4. Setup Guide
4.1. SIM Card Installation
The MV55G tracker requires a Micro SIM card for network connectivity. Ensure the SIM card is active and has data service enabled. It does not support SMS or call functions with the Spionlink SIM card.
- Open the SIM card slot cover on the device.
- Insert the Micro SIM card in the correct direction as shown in the diagram below.
- Close the SIM card slot cover securely.

4.2. APN Configuration
The APN (Access Point Name) information is crucial for the tracker to connect to the network. Obtain the exact APN name from your local SIM card provider. If configured incorrectly, the tracker will not get online.
To configure the APN, send an SMS command to the tracker's SIM card number:
- If the SIM card has an APN user and password:
APN,ApnName,User,Password#
Example:APN,orange, orange, orange# - If the SIM card operator does NOT have an APN user and password:
APN,ApnName#
Example:APN,internet#
The tracker will reply with "SET APN OK" if successful.
4.3. Physical Installation
The MV55G is a plug-and-play device that connects directly to your vehicle's OBDII port. Most vehicles have their OBDII interface located in Area A or B (under the dashboard, near the steering wheel or center console). A small number of cars may have it in Area C, D, or E.

- Area A (Most cars): VW, Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Citroen, BMW, etc.
- Area B: Honda, Lexus, etc.
- Area C: Dongfeng Citroen, etc.
- Area D/E: A few cars.
Once plugged in, ensure the device is in a good signal area (top side facing upward, without metallic objects shielding it) for optimal GPS signal reception.
4.4. App Download
To use the tracking features, download the MiCODUS app:
- Search for "MiCODUS" in the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
- Alternatively, scan the QR codes below to download the app for your device.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Real-time Tracking
The MV55G allows you to track your vehicle's location in real-time using the MiCODUS platform, mobile application, or SMS commands. The minimum upload interval is 10 seconds, providing continuous tracking.

5.2. Historical Route Playback
The MiCODUS platform records historical route data for up to 6 months. This feature helps you review past movements, analyze driving habits, and optimize routes.

5.3. Multiple Positioning Ways
The MV55G supports GPS, LBS (Location Based Service), and BEIDOU for accurate positioning. This ensures reliable location data whether your vehicle is outdoors or indoors.

5.4. Alarm Functions
The MV55G tracker supports multiple alarm functions to enhance vehicle security. These alarms can be configured via SMS, the tracking platform, or phone calls.

a. Vibration Alert
This alert functions when the device is in a stationary state. If vibration is detected, the tracker will send an alarm message.
- First Step: Configure SOS numbers. Send SMS:
SOS,A,1st number,2nd number,3rd number#(Supports up to 3 SOS numbers). - Second Step: Enable arm mode. Send SMS:
ARM# - Third Step: Configure alarm ways. Send SMS:
SENALM,[A][,M]#(A=ON/OFF, M=0/1/2 for Platform only, SMS+Platform, or Platform+SMS+phonecall). - Fourth Step: Keep the device stationary for more than 5 minutes to enter sleep arm mode.
- Fifth Step: Vibrate the device to trigger the alarm message.
b. Engine Status Change Detection (Start/Flameout Alarm)
The tracker detects when the engine starts or turns off and sends an alarm message. Alarm methods are configurable.
- First Step: Configure SOS numbers. Send SMS:
SOS,A,1st number,2nd number,3rd number# - Second Step: Configure alarm ways. Send SMS:
ACCALM,ON,A,M,N#(A=ON/OFF, M=0/1/2 for alarm type, N=0/1/2 for ACC ON&OFF, ACC ON, or ACC OFF alarm).
c. Plug Out Alarm
If the device is unplugged from the OBDII port, an alarm message will be sent. Alarm methods are configurable.
- First Step: Configure SOS numbers. Send SMS:
SOS,A,1st number,2nd number,3rd number# - Second Step: Enable function. Send SMS:
PWRALM,A,B#(A=ON/OFF, B=0/1/2 for Platform only, SMS+Platform, or Platform+SMS+Call).
5.5. Internal Battery
The MV55G is equipped with a 140mAh Lion Polymer internal battery. This battery provides backup power, allowing the device to continue working for approximately 1-2 hours if disconnected from the external power source (vehicle's OBDII port).

6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your MiCODUS MV55G GPS Tracker, follow these general maintenance guidelines:
- Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity outside its operating range (-20°C to 75°C, 10%-85%RH non-condensing).
- Do not attempt to open or modify the device, as this will void the warranty.
- Ensure the OBDII port connection is secure to prevent accidental disconnections.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your MV55G tracker, refer to the following table for common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause & Solution |
|---|---|
| Unable to connect to tracking platform | Check APN and settings. Ensure SIM card data service is enabled and has balance. |
| Tracker shows offline | Check external power connection. Verify vehicle is not in a network blind area. Check SIM card balance. |
| Unable to locate | Ensure the device's top side faces upward without metallic shielding. Confirm it's not in an area without satellite coverage. |
| Location drift | May occur in areas with poor GNSS signal (e.g., tall buildings, basement). Check if vibration triggers the accelerator. |
| No command reply | Ensure SMS command format is correct. Vehicle might be in a network blind area. Verify SIM card is well inserted and has SMS service. |
8. User Tips
- SIM Card Compatibility: Always verify that your local SIM card supports the 4G LTE-FDD/TDD, 3G WCDMA, and 2G GSM/EDGE bands listed in the specifications for your region (EU or AU version). Some users have reported issues with specific bands in certain countries.
- APN Settings: Double-check your APN settings. Incorrect APN is a common reason for the tracker not connecting to the platform. If you're unsure, contact your SIM card provider for the exact APN details.
- Signal Strength: For best performance, especially for GPS accuracy, ensure the tracker is installed in a location within the vehicle where it has a clear view of the sky and is not obstructed by metallic objects.
- Password Management: If you set an instruction password, remember it. If forgotten, you can reset it using the
RSTPWD,A#command where 'A' is the ID number of the device.
