5. Setup and Installation

Important: Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician and in accordance with local electrical codes. Ensure power is disconnected before installation.

5.1 Mounting

  1. Prepare a standard single switch back box in the desired wall location.
  2. Carefully remove the front cover of the thermostat to access the mounting holes and wiring terminals.
  3. Connect the wiring as per the diagram below.
  4. Mount the thermostat base into the back box using the provided mounting screws.
  5. Reattach the front cover securely.

5.2 Wiring Diagram

Refer to the diagram below for correct electrical connections. The terminals are numbered 1 through 7.

Back view of the thermostat showing wiring terminals. Terminals 1 & 2 are for AC230V power input (L & N). Terminals 3 & 4 are for the heating load (N1 & L1), with a maximum load of 16A/3600W. Terminals 6 & 7 are for the NTC sensor connection.
  • Terminals 1 & 2: Power Input (AC 230V, 50Hz). Connect Live (L) to terminal 1 and Neutral (N) to terminal 2.
  • Terminals 3 & 4: Heating Load Output. Connect Neutral (N1) to terminal 3 and Live (L1) to terminal 4. This connects to your floor heating element or other electrical heating device.
  • Terminals 6 & 7: NTC Sensor Input. Connect the NTC floor sensor cable to these terminals. The sensor measures the floor temperature.
  • Grounding: Ensure proper grounding for safety, though not explicitly shown on the terminal block, it is a standard electrical practice.

5.3 Sensor Placement

The NTC floor sensor should be installed in a conduit within the floor, positioned centrally between two heating cables, and sealed at the end to prevent moisture ingress. Ensure the sensor cable is not damaged during installation.

6. Operating Instructions

The KETOTEK M5.16 Series thermostat offers straightforward manual control.

  1. Power On/Off: Use the slide switch on the left side of the thermostat to turn the unit ON (indicated by 'I') or OFF (indicated by 'O').
  2. Set Temperature: Rotate the knob on the right side of the thermostat to your desired temperature. The scale ranges from 5°C to 40°C.
  3. Heating Indication: A small LED indicator (usually red or green) will light up when the heating element is active and the thermostat is calling for heat.

The thermostat will automatically maintain the set temperature by turning the heating element on and off based on the temperature detected by the NTC sensor.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the thermostat surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the wiring connections for any signs of loosening or damage. Ensure the sensor cable is intact.
  • Dust Removal: If necessary, gently clean any dust accumulation around the thermostat vents to ensure proper operation.

No user-serviceable parts are inside. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit yourself.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Thermostat not turning onNo power supply; Power switch is OFF.Check circuit breaker; Ensure slide switch is in 'I' (ON) position.
Heating not activatingSet temperature is below current room/floor temperature; Wiring issue; Faulty heating element.Increase set temperature; Verify wiring connections; Consult an electrician to check heating element.
Inaccurate temperature readingSensor improperly installed or damaged; Drafts near thermostat.Check sensor placement and integrity; Seal any drafts.
LED indicator not workingLED failure; No power to heating element. If heating works, LED might be faulty (does not affect function). If no heating, troubleshoot power/wiring.

If problems persist after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.

9. User Tips

  • Optimal Sensor Placement: For the most accurate floor temperature control, ensure the NTC sensor is placed correctly within the floor, away from direct sunlight or other heat sources that could skew readings.
  • Energy Saving: Set your desired temperature and avoid frequently adjusting it. Large fluctuations can lead to higher energy consumption. Consider slightly lower temperatures when the area is unoccupied.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically check the thermostat's functionality, especially before the heating season, to ensure it's operating correctly.

10. Warranty and Support

This KETOTEK thermostat comes with a 6-month warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects. Please retain your proof of purchase for warranty claims.
