This advanced electronic door lock offers multiple secure entry methods, including biometric fingerprint, password, IC card, traditional mechanical key, and convenient control via the Tuya App. Designed for ease of use and enhanced security, this manual will guide you through the installation, operation, and maintenance of your new smart lock.

5. Setup and Installation

Before installation, ensure your door meets the following requirements:

  • Door Thickness: 30-55mm.
  • Door Type: Primarily designed for wooden doors.
  • Mortise Type: The lock supports various mortise specifications. Please select the correct mortise type (e.g., 22x147, 22x180, 22x195, 22x225, 22x240) that suits your door. Refer to the diagram below for guidance.
  • Handle Direction: The handle direction is reversible to accommodate both left and right-opening doors.

Choose the correct mortise size for your door. Dimensions A and B are critical for proper fit.

Installation Steps (General)

  1. Prepare the Door: Ensure the door is properly drilled and mortised according to the selected lock body dimensions.
  2. Install Mortise Lock Body: Insert the mortise lock body into the door edge and secure it with screws.
  3. Install Spindles and Wiring: Insert the square spindles through the mortise and route the necessary wiring through the door.
  4. Attach Outer Panel: Connect the outer panel to the mortise and secure it to the door. Ensure the wiring is correctly connected.
  5. Attach Inner Panel: Connect the inner panel, ensuring all wires are properly connected and tucked away. Secure the inner panel to the door.
  6. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the inner panel and insert 4 AA dry batteries.
  7. Test Functionality: After installation, test all unlocking methods (fingerprint, password, IC card, mechanical key, app) to ensure proper operation.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Unlocking Methods

  • Biometric Fingerprint: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint sensor. The lock will unlock if the fingerprint is recognized.
  • Password: Enter your registered password on the touch keypad, followed by '#'.
  • IC Card: Present your registered IC card to the induction area on the lock.
  • Mechanical Key: Insert the mechanical key into the keyhole and turn to unlock.
  • Tuya App: Use the Tuya App on your smartphone for remote unlocking.

6.2 Language Switching

To switch the voice prompt language:

  1. Ensure the smart lock is in its initialized state.
  2. Enter the corresponding language conversion code on the keypad. For example, to switch to English/Chinese, enter 555666888#.

6.3 Tuya App Remote Control

The SmarDeer Smart Lock connects directly to your Wi-Fi network (2.4G Wi-Fi) without needing a separate gateway. Download the Tuya or Smartlife App from your smartphone's app store.

  • Remote Unlocking: To request remote unlocking, input 9# on the door lock keypad. The application will receive a remote unlock request, allowing you to unlock the door from anywhere.
  • Generating Passwords: The Tuya App allows you to generate various types of passwords:
    • Single Password: Valid for a short period (e.g., 5 minutes) and can be used once.
    • Unlimited Password: Set a specific usage time for the password, valid until expiration.
    • Customize Passwords Online: Generate randomly changing passwords for enhanced security.
  • Access Alerts & Records: The app records the opening time, method, and personnel for each entry, providing a comprehensive access log.

6.4 Virtual Password (Anti-Peeping)

When entering your password, you can input any random numbers before and after the correct password. This feature prevents others from observing and memorizing your actual code.

6.5 Channel Mode

Channel mode allows the door to be unlocked without requiring fingerprint or password verification. This is useful for periods of high traffic, such as during an event or when moving items. To activate/deactivate channel mode, input 5# on the keypad.

6.6 Emergency Power

In case of battery depletion, the lock can be temporarily powered using a power bank connected to the Micro USB emergency power outlet located at the bottom of the outer panel.

7. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace all four AA batteries when the low battery warning is issued. Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the lock's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
  • Fingerprint Sensor: Keep the fingerprint sensor clean and dry for optimal performance.
  • Keypad: Ensure the keypad is free from dirt or debris.
  • Mechanical Key: Store mechanical keys in a safe, accessible location outside the property for emergency use.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Lock Not Responding: Check battery levels. If batteries are low, use the Micro USB port for emergency power or replace them.
  • Fingerprint Not Recognized: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Re-register your fingerprint if issues persist.
  • Password Not Working: Double-check the entered password. Ensure you are not in channel mode if you expect password verification.
  • IC Card Not Working: Ensure the card is properly registered and presented to the correct area.
  • App Connectivity Issues: Verify your Wi-Fi connection (2.4Ghz). Ensure the lock is within range of your router. Restart the app or the lock if necessary.
  • Lock Not Locking/Unlocking Automatically: Check for any obstructions in the door frame or latch. Ensure the mortise is correctly aligned.
  • Voice Prompts: If the voice prompts are too loud or too quiet, check the lock's settings (usually accessible via the app or a master code sequence) to adjust the volume.

9. User Tips

  • Verify Door Thickness: Before purchasing, accurately measure your door thickness to ensure it falls within the 30-55mm range.
  • Choose Correct Mortise: Carefully compare your door's existing mortise or the space available with the provided mortise diagrams (No.1 to No.5) to select the appropriate size.
  • Language Setting: If the voice prompts are in an unfamiliar language, use the language conversion codes (e.g., 555666888# for English/Chinese) to switch to your preferred language immediately after installation.
  • Temporary Passwords for Guests: Utilize the Tuya App's feature to generate time-limited or one-time passwords for visitors, ensuring secure access without sharing your permanent codes.
  • Emergency Key Storage: Always keep at least one mechanical key in a secure location outside your home for emergency access in case of battery failure or electronic malfunction.
