5. Setup

5.1. Wiring Diagram

Refer to the diagram below for proper wiring connections. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on the device.

5.2. Power Connection

Connect the keypad to a DC12V 1-2A power supply as indicated in the wiring diagram. Incorrect voltage or current can damage the device.

5.3. Physical Installation

Mount the keypad securely using the provided screws and wall plugs. Ensure the location is suitable for its IP66/IP67 waterproof rating if installed outdoors.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Tuya APP Setup

To manage your access control keypad via the Tuya APP, follow these steps:

  1. Download and install the Tuya Smart APP on your mobile device.
  2. Open the APP and register/log in.
  3. Add Device: Tap 'Add device' or the '+' icon in the app.
  4. Connecting Equipment: The app will search for nearby devices. Select your access control keypad when it appears.
  5. Connection Successful: Once connected, the device will be added to your app.
  6. Find Member Management: Navigate to 'Member Management' within the device settings to add users.

6.2. Adding Users (Fingerprint, Password, RFID Card)

Within the Tuya APP's 'Member Management' section:

  • Add Fingerprint: Select 'Add Fingerprint'. Follow the on-screen prompts to place and remove your finger on the keypad's fingerprint sensor multiple times until successfully registered.
  • Add Password: Select 'Add Code'. Enter a 6 to 10 digit code and save it.
  • Add Door Card (RFID): Select 'Add Card'. Place the RFID card on the keypad's card swiping area when prompted by the app.

6.3. Unlocking Methods

The keypad supports various unlocking methods:

  • Fingerprint Unlock: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint sensor.
  • RFID Card Unlocking: Swipe your registered RFID card over the card swiping area.
  • Password Unlock: Enter your registered password on the keypad.
  • Mobile NFC Unlocking: Use your mobile phone's NFC function to unlock. (Note: Not all phone models support this, especially some iPhones).
  • Tuya APP Unlocking: Unlock remotely via the Tuya APP.
  • Temporary Password Unlock: Generate temporary passwords through the Tuya APP for guest access.

6.4. Mobile NFC Unlocking Steps

To use Mobile NFC unlocking:

  1. Open your phone's 'Wallet' APP.
  2. Navigate to 'Keys' or similar section.
  3. Select 'Add Key' and then 'Access card'.
  4. Choose 'Copy your card' and place your physical RFID card under your phone.
  5. Wait for the card to be read and added successfully.
  6. Turn off NFC on your phone, then turn it on again. You can now unlock with Mobile NFC.

6.5. Normal Open Mode

Any user can enter "9, #" to enter the normally open state within 3 seconds after unlocking. The device will automatically exit the normally open state after unlocking with any key.

The Tuya APP provides comprehensive control and monitoring:

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the keypad surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the acrylic panel.
  • Environmental Protection: Despite its waterproof rating, avoid prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions or direct water jets to maximize lifespan.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the Tuya APP regularly for any available device firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Bluetooth Disconnection: If Bluetooth frequently disconnects, ensure your phone is within range and there are no significant obstructions. Try restarting both the keypad and your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Cannot Add Device to App: Ensure the keypad is powered on and in pairing mode (refer to the app's instructions for specific pairing steps). Check your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Incorrect Code Lockout: If the device locks out after three incorrect code attempts, wait for the lockout period to expire or use another valid access method (fingerprint, card, or app) to unlock.
  • NFC Not Working with iPhone: Mobile NFC unlocking is primarily supported on most Android systems. Only a few iPhone models support this feature.
  • No Wi-Fi Without Gateway: The device communicates via Bluetooth. For Wi-Fi functionality and remote access, a Tuya Wi-Fi gateway is required.

9. User Tips

  • NFC Compatibility: While the device supports NFC, please note that not all phone models are compatible, especially certain iPhone models. Verify your phone's NFC capabilities for access control.
  • Bluetooth Connection: Some users have reported occasional Bluetooth disconnection issues. Ensure your phone is close to the device during setup and operation for a stable connection.
  • Wiegand Protocol: The device supports WG34 output. If integrating with an access control board, ensure compatibility with this protocol.
