2. Safety Precautions

  • Always ensure correct polarity when connecting the BMS to the battery pack. Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the BMS, battery, or connected devices.
  • Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the BMS.
  • Ensure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent short circuits.
  • Handle battery packs with care, especially during wiring.
  • The BMS is designed for 3.7V rated Li-ion batteries; do not use with 3.2V rated LiFePO4 batteries unless specified for a different model.

3. Setup and Wiring Instructions

Proper wiring is critical for the safe and effective operation of the DALY BMS. Please follow these instructions carefully.

3.1. General Wiring Principles

  • **Balance Wires:** Do NOT insert balance wires into the BMS connector before connecting the main battery wires. Ensure all battery cells are connected correctly before plugging in the balance cable.
  • **Connection Sequence:**
    1. Connect the thin black balance wire to the 1st battery's positive pole.
    2. Connect each cell's positive pole in order until the last one.
    3. After connecting all balance wires, insert the connector into the BMS.
    4. Measure the voltage between two adjacent metal terminals on the back of the connector. If it's a Li-ion battery, the voltage should be between 3.0V – 4.2V.
    5. Adjust the multimeter to the buzzer position and confirm the internal resistance between B- and P-. If there is a beep, the BMS is good. Otherwise, recheck the wiring.
    6. Connect the main B- (thick blue wire) with the battery pack's total negative pole.
    7. After finishing wiring, measure the voltage between B+ and B- and P+ and P-. These voltages should be equal.

For LiFePO4 battery, the voltage should be between 2.0V – 3.6V. For LTO battery, it should be between 1.5V – 2.75V.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DALY BMS, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No output voltage from P- terminal
  • Short circuit protection activated.
  • Over-discharge protection activated.
  • Incorrect wiring.
  • Remove the load and check for short circuits.

Battery not charging
  • Over-charge protection activated (if battery is already full).
  • Temperature protection activated (if battery is too hot/cold).
  • Charger issue.
  • Check battery voltage. If full, charging will stop.
  • Allow battery to reach normal operating temperature.
  • Test charger independently.
Unbalanced cell voltages
  • Initial cell imbalance.
  • Faulty balance wire connection.
  • The BMS has a balance function; allow time for it to balance cells during charging.
  • Recheck balance wire connections to ensure they are secure and in correct order.
