5.2 Testing the Sensor

To test the sensor's functionality:

  1. Move laterally within the sensor's detection area.
  2. Observe the indicator light on the sensor. It should illuminate.
  3. Check your mobile app for a "Human detected" push notification.

5.3 Smart Home Integration (Alexa)

The sensor supports integration with Alexa. Follow the instructions within the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app to link your account with Alexa and enable voice control or automation routines based on motion detection.

6. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: When the low-voltage notification (≤2.2V) is received, replace the two LR03 (AAA) batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.
  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the sensor lens and body with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the device.
  • Placement: Ensure the sensor is placed in an area free from direct sunlight, heat sources, or strong air currents, which can cause false triggers.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device not connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The sensor does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
    • Verify the Wi-Fi password is correct.
    • Make sure the sensor is within range of your Wi-Fi router (up to 45m).
    • Reset the sensor by pressing the RESET button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi indicator flashes rapidly, then try pairing again.
  • No motion detection or false alarms:
    • Check battery levels and replace if low.
    • Ensure the sensor lens is clean and unobstructed.
    • Adjust the sensor's placement to avoid direct sunlight, heating/cooling vents, or moving objects (e.g., curtains) that might cause false triggers.
    • Confirm the detection angle and distance are suitable for your monitoring area.
  • App notifications not received:
    • Check your phone's notification settings for the Smart Life/Tuya Smart app to ensure notifications are enabled.
    • Verify your phone has an active internet connection.
    • Ensure the app is running in the background or allowed to run in the background by your phone's OS.
  • USB power not working:
    • Remember that USB power is only for use with rechargeable batteries, not dry cell batteries.
    • Ensure the USB cable and power adapter (DC5V/2A) are functioning correctly.
