Automatic Sleep and Standby
The station features intelligent automatic sleep, standby, and shutdown functions to prolong the life of the heating element and reduce risks.
- If set to 1 minute, the soldering iron will automatically go to sleep after 1 minute of non-use.
- The standby time range is 0-120 minutes. If the handle is left for 2 minutes without moving, the host enters sleep. The sleep duration lasts for 5 minutes, and then the host enters the shutdown state.
- To wake up from sleep/standby, lift the handle or rotate the encoder.

Boost Function
The T12-959 includes a boost function to temporarily increase the tip temperature by 50℃ for demanding tasks.
- Manually press the encoder (thermostat knob) and short press for 1 second to activate the boost.
- The boost duration is 30 seconds. Both the strengthening time and temperature can be customized in the settings.

Temperature Reference for Soldering
Recommended temperatures for common soldering tasks:
- Chip drag tin: 300℃-380℃ (related to the melting point of the tin wire).
- Pad squeegee: 300℃-400℃.
- Chip disassembly: 300℃-400℃.
*Note: These values are for reference only; always operate according to the actual situation and solder type.
Maintenance
Soldering Iron Tip Care
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the soldering iron tip using the wet sponge in the stand or a brass wire cleaner to remove excess solder and oxidation.
- Tinning: Always tin the tip with a fresh layer of solder after cleaning and before storing to prevent oxidation.
- Temperature Management: Avoid continuous operation at temperatures higher than 380℃. The optimal working temperature range is 300-380℃. Higher temperatures accelerate tip oxidation and reduce the lifespan of the heating core.

Figure 7: Soldering iron tip construction and initial use instructions.
Replacing the Soldering Iron Tip
The T12-959 uses a heating core soldering iron tip (2-in-1 design) that is easy to disassemble and replace in approximately 2 seconds.
- Ensure the soldering iron is cool before attempting to replace the tip.
- Unscrew the heating core fixing nut to remove the old tip.
- Insert the new T12-K tip and secure it by tightening the fixing nut.
General Care
- Keep the station clean and free from dust and debris.
- Store the unit in a dry place when not in use.
Troubleshooting
- Temperature Jump or ERROR with New Tip: This is normal for a brand new soldering iron tip due to unstable resistance. To stabilize, heat the tip to 480℃, turn off the station to cool, then turn it on and raise to 480℃ again. Repeat this 2-3 times. The temperature will stabilize after several uses.
- Temperature Display Beating: At temperatures higher than 380℃, the temperature display may show fluctuations. This is normal and does not affect performance. The higher the temperature, the greater the beating.
- Tip Calibration: If the displayed temperature does not match the actual tip temperature, use the "9. Tip Adjust" option in the system menu to calibrate. Refer to the menu navigation section for accessing settings.
