1. Introduction

The FEELWORLD F6 Plus V2 is a 6-inch on-camera DSLR field monitor designed to enhance your video shooting experience. It features a small touch screen for quick settings adjustments, 3D LUT support, and a lightweight design suitable for gimbal and camera setups. With a Full HD 1920x1080 resolution and Rec.709 professional color calibration, it ensures accurate color reproduction and sharp, detailed images. The monitor supports 4K HDMI input/output without delay and includes an 8.4V DC output for real-time camera power. It also comes with a 360° tilt arm for flexible monitoring angles and built-in battery plates for Sony F970 and Canon LP-E6 batteries.

3. Setup

3.1 Mounting the Monitor

The F6 Plus V2 monitor can be mounted using its ¼-20 thread points located on the top, bottom, and right sides. The included 360° tilt arm allows for flexible positioning and better monitoring angles, replacing traditional hot shoe mounts.

3.2 Powering the Monitor

The monitor can be powered via a standard 12V 1.5A power adapter (not included in all packages) or compatible batteries. It features built-in battery plates for Sony F970 series batteries (F970, F960, F950, F930, F770, F750, F730, F570, F550, F530, QM91D, QM91, QM90D, QM90, QM71D, QM71, QM70D, QM70, QM51D, QM51, FM71, FM70) and Canon LP-E6 batteries. Ensure batteries are fully charged before use. The monitor also provides an 8.4V DC output to power your camera in real-time.

3.3 Connecting to a Camera

Connect your camera to the monitor using an HDMI cable. The monitor supports 4K HDMI input/output without delay. Ensure your camera's HDMI output settings are compatible with the monitor's supported formats.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Touchscreen Operation

The F6 Plus V2 is a full touchscreen monitor. Follow these gestures for navigation:

  • Access Main Menu: Double-tap the screen continuously when the monitor and touch functions are both active.
  • Access Shortcut Menu: Slip your finger from the bottom of the screen upwards.
  • Exit Menu: Tap any space outside the menu area.

4.2 Monitoring Tools and Features

The monitor provides a variety of on-screen tools to assist with your shooting:

  • Waveform / Vector scope / Histogram: For detailed analysis of video signals.
  • Peaking Focus Assist: Displays colored highlights (red, green, blue, white, yellow options) on sharp edges to aid in achieving precise focus. Adjustable peaking level from 1 to 10.
  • False Colors: Helps in accurately setting exposure by representing different luminance values with distinct colors.
  • Zebra Exposure: Highlights overexposed areas with zebra stripes. Adjustable from 1% to 100%.
  • Scan Mode: Options for Under Scan and Over Scan.
  • Zoom: Magnify the image from 100% to 300%.
  • Anamorphic Mode: Supports 1.25x, 1.33x, 1.5x, 2.0x, 2.0x mag de-squeeze.
  • Pixel to Pixel: Displays the image at its native resolution without scaling.
  • Center Marker, Safety Marker: Various aspect ratio markers (70%, 80%, 90%, 16:9, 16:10, 4:3, 5:4, 1.85:1, 2.35:1) with customizable colors (red, green, blue, white, black, yellow).
  • Check Field: Displays only red, green, blue, or gray channels for color analysis.
  • Image Flip: Flip the image horizontally (H), vertically (V), or both (H/V).
  • Image Freeze: Freeze the current frame.
  • Color Temperature Adjustment: Adjust the color temperature of the display.

4.3 3D LUT Import Instructions

The monitor supports importing custom 3D LUTs for color grading and monitoring. Follow these steps:

  1. SD Card Format: Ensure your SD card is formatted to FAT32 or NTFS.
  2. File Limit: Up to 50 user LUT files can be imported.
  3. Document Requirements:
    • LUT file format suffix must be .cube (case insensitive).
    • A single file must not exceed 7.9MB.
    • Supports files with LUT_3D_SIZE of 16, 17, 32, 33, 64, 65.
    • LUT file names should be in English or numeric to avoid recognition issues.
  4. Import Steps:
    1. Insert the SD card correctly into the monitor.
    2. Navigate to the [Color] item in the main menu.
    3. Select the [Import LUT (SD)] option and execute it.
  5. System Recognition: The system will first recognize the SD card.
    • If no SD card is recognized, it will prompt "access failed". Try again or restart the device.
    • If the SD card is identified, the system will erase existing user files and prompt "initialize".
    • If no valid LUT files are found on the SD card, it will prompt "Empty" and end the operation.
    • If valid files are found, they will be saved to the device, and a message "[n]name" will be displayed, indicating the number of files stored and the imported LUT file name.
    • Upon completion, it will prompt "Success [n]", where 'n' is the number of imported LUTs.

5. User Tips

  • Volume Control: To avoid noise during recording, long-press the “<” button to turn down the volume to near zero. Long-pressing the “>” button increases the volume.
  • HDMI Information Display: If focus peaking or other on-screen information interferes with your view, turn off the "HDMI Information Display" under the "HDMI Settings" tab in the menu system.
  • Gimbal Setup: The monitor's lightweight and compact design makes it ideal for gimbal setups, allowing for easy multi-angle monitoring during low-angle or high-angle shots.
  • Handheld Rigs: Easily mount the monitor on a handheld rig with an HDMI cable connected to your camera. Utilize features like false color, focus peaking, and LUT import for efficient focus checking.
  • Vlogging: The F6 Plus V2 is intuitive for vlogging, allowing you to see yourself while filming. It can be mounted on top of the camera, and its bracket can also accommodate a mic receiver.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Monitor Does Not Turn On

  • Ensure you are using a standard 12V 1.5A power adapter (if applicable) and it is properly connected.
  • If powering via battery, check if the battery is fully charged.

6.2 "No Signal" Message Displayed

  • Try using a different HDMI cable to rule out cable issues.
  • Connect the monitor to a computer via HDMI to check if the monitor itself can receive a signal.
  • Verify your camera's HDMI output signal settings and confirm they are supported by the monitor.

6.3 Noise During Recording

  • Long-press the “<” button on the monitor to decrease the volume to near zero.

6.4 Focus Peak Information Overlays on Monitor Display

  • Turn off the "HDMI Information Display" option found under the "HDMI Settings" tab in the monitor's menu system. This will prevent camera overlay information from appearing on the monitor when focus peaking is active.
