6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Mobile Application & Web Platform
The TK909 utilizes a free tracking system accessible via Android, iOS mobile applications, and a web platform. This multi-platform support ensures safer and more functional tracking.

Figure 6.1: The multi-platform tracking system for the TK909.
- Download the official TKSTAR GPS tracking app from your device's app store (Android/iOS).
- Register an account and log in.
- Add your device to the app using the unique ID found on the tracker (usually on the back or packaging).
- Ensure your SIM card's GPRS settings (APN) are correctly configured within the app or via SMS commands if required.
6.2. Real-time Tracking
The TK909 uses a combination of GPS, LBS (Location Based Service), and WIFI for accurate positioning, providing reliable tracking even in areas with weak GPS signals.

Figure 6.2: The three positioning methods used by the TK909 tracker.
Once logged into the app or web platform, you can view your pet's current location on a map in real-time.
6.3. Geo-Fence (Safety Zone)
Set up virtual boundaries (geo-fences) on the map. When your pet enters or exits these predefined zones, the app will send you an alert notification.

Figure 6.3: Setting a geo-fence and viewing historical routes within the app.
6.4. Historical Route Playback
Review your pet's past movements by accessing the historical route feature in the app. This allows you to see where your pet has been over a specified period.
6.5. SOS Function
The Paw Button also functions as an SOS button. In an emergency, if the pet is lost and someone finds it, they can press the SOS button to send an alert to the pre-set emergency contacts (if configured in the app).
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the tracker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Water Resistance: The device is IP67 waterproof, meaning it can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. However, avoid prolonged submersion or exposure to high-pressure water jets. Ensure the SIM card slot cover is securely closed.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period.
- Storage: Store the tracker in a cool, dry place when not in use.
8. Troubleshooting
- Device not connecting to network: Ensure the 2G GSM SIM card is correctly inserted, activated, and has sufficient credit/data. Verify that the APN settings in the app or via SMS commands are correct for your SIM card provider. Check the Left LED (GSM signal) for status.
- Inaccurate location or no GPS signal: Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky for GPS reception. If indoors or in dense urban areas, the device may rely on LBS or WIFI positioning, which can be less accurate. Check the Right LED (GPS signal) for status.
- Battery drains quickly: Ensure the device is fully charged. Frequent real-time tracking updates or poor network signal can increase battery consumption. Adjust tracking frequency settings in the app if available.
- App not showing device online: Confirm the SIM card has GPRS data enabled and the APN settings are correct. Restart the tracker and the app.
9. User Tips
- SIM Card Configuration: Always ensure your 2G GSM SIM card has GPRS data enabled and the correct APN settings are applied for seamless app tracking.
- Battery Management: Regularly check the battery level through the app and charge the device to avoid unexpected power loss, especially before long outings. The battery life is typically 30 hours or more, but this can vary with usage.
- Geo-Fencing for Safety: Utilize the geo-fencing feature to create safe zones around your home or other frequent locations. This provides immediate alerts if your pet wanders off.
