1. Introduction
The JOYELEC Digital Single Phase Energy Meter (SS766N Series) is a versatile device designed for accurate measurement of electricity consumption in single-phase AC circuits. This meter can display total energy (kWh), temporary energy (kWh), real-time voltage, current, and power. It features a pulse LED indicator for active measurement and is suitable for 35mm DIN rail installation.
This manual provides essential information for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of your energy meter. Please read it thoroughly before use.
2. Safety Information
- Installation and maintenance should only be performed by qualified personnel.
- Ensure the power supply is completely disconnected before installation or any wiring changes.
- Do not operate the meter if it appears damaged.
- Observe all local electrical codes and regulations during installation.
- The meter is designed for indoor use in a dry environment.
- Avoid exposing the meter to direct sunlight, high temperatures, or excessive humidity.

4. Installation
The meter is designed for easy installation on a standard 35mm DIN rail.
- Power Disconnection: Before starting, ensure the main power supply to the circuit where the meter will be installed is completely turned off. Use appropriate lockout/tagout procedures.
- Mounting: Clip the energy meter onto a 35mm DIN rail in your electrical panel.
- Wiring: Refer to the wiring diagram below for correct connections.
- Connect the Live (L) and Neutral (N) input wires from your power source to the corresponding terminals (typically at the top of the meter).
- Connect the Live (L) and Neutral (N) output wires to your electrical equipment or load from the corresponding terminals (typically at the bottom of the meter).
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
- Power Restoration: Once all wiring is complete and verified, restore power to the circuit. The meter display should illuminate (if backlight is present) and begin showing readings.

5. Operation
The JOYELEC energy meter is designed for straightforward operation, automatically cycling through various display parameters.
Display Modes
The meter automatically displays the following parameters in a cyclical manner:
- Total Energy (kWh): Accumulates total power consumption and cannot be reset. This value is retained even if power is lost.
- Temporary Energy (kWh): Measures power consumption for a specific period and can be reset.
- Voltage (V): Real-time voltage of the circuit.
- Current (A): Real-time current flowing through the circuit.
- Power (W): Real-time power consumption.

Pulse LED Indicator
A pulse LED on the meter indicates its working status. It flashes at a rate of 1600 pulses per kWh, providing a visual confirmation of energy measurement.
Backlight Functionality
Some models (e.g., SS766NM, SS766NL, SS776NMR) feature an LCD display with a backlight for improved visibility in low-light conditions. The backlight, if present, is typically always on when the meter is powered.

6. Resetting Temporary kWh
The meter provides a temporary energy consumption reading that can be reset for monitoring specific usage periods.
- For models with a Reset Button (e.g., SS776NMR): Press and hold the dedicated "Reset" button on the front panel to clear the temporary kWh reading.
- For models without a Reset Button (e.g., SS766N, SS766NM): The temporary kWh reading is typically reset by disconnecting and then reconnecting the power supply to the meter.
Note: The Total Energy (kWh) reading is cumulative and cannot be reset, ensuring long-term consumption data integrity.

7. Maintenance
- Keep the meter clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure all electrical connections remain tight and free from corrosion. Periodically check connections, especially after initial installation.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the meter yourself, as this may void the warranty and pose a safety risk.
8. Troubleshooting
- Meter not displaying readings:
- Check if the power supply is connected correctly and active.
- Verify all wiring connections are secure according to the wiring diagram.
- If the backlight is on but no numbers are displayed, contact support.
- Incorrect readings:
- Ensure the meter is correctly wired for the load.
- Confirm the input voltage matches the meter's rated voltage (220V/230V AC).
- Backlight issues:
- Some models (e.g., SS766N) do not have a backlight. Refer to your specific model's features.
- If your model has a backlight and it's not working, ensure power is supplied. If the issue persists, contact support.
- Error Codes: If an error code (e.g., "C-05") appears on the display, note the code and contact customer support for assistance.
9. User Tips
- Total vs. Temporary kWh: Remember that the total kWh reading is permanent and accumulates all consumption, while the temporary kWh can be reset for short-term monitoring.
- Backlight Visibility: For models with a backlight, be aware that the viewing angle might be limited (e.g., around 90 degrees), which could affect readability from certain positions.
- Input Connection: While the wiring diagram shows input at the top, ensure correct Live (L) and Neutral (N) connections regardless of physical orientation if the meter design allows for flexibility.
