4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the walkie talkie is turned off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  3. Slide the battery cover downwards to remove it.
  4. Align the 1500mAh Li-ion battery pack with the contacts inside the compartment.
  5. Gently press the battery into place until it clicks securely.
  6. Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it upwards until it locks.

4.2 Attaching Accessories

  • Belt Clip: Align the belt clip with the screw holes on the back of the radio and secure it with the provided screws.
  • Lanyard: Thread the lanyard through the designated loop on the top or side of the radio.
  • Earpiece: Plug the earpiece into the audio jack on the side of the radio.

5. Charging

The Radtel RT88 uses a dedicated charging dock and USB cable for recharging. Ensure the battery is installed in the walkie talkie or placed directly into the charging dock.

  1. Connect the USB charging cable to the charging dock.
  2. Plug the USB cable into a compatible power source (e.g., PC, laptop, AC adapter, car cigarette lighter adapter).
  3. Place the walkie talkie (with battery installed) or just the battery into the charging dock.

6. Operation

6.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the top-left knob clockwise to turn the radio ON. Continue rotating to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease the volume and turn the radio OFF.

6.2 Channel Selection

Rotate the top-right knob to select one of the 16 available channels. Ensure all radios in your group are set to the same channel for communication.

6.3 Transmitting and Receiving

  • To Transmit: Press and hold the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting.
  • To Receive: The radio will automatically receive signals when the PTT button is not pressed and you are on an active channel.

6.4 Flashlight Function

Press the dedicated flashlight button (usually on the side) to turn the built-in LED flashlight ON or OFF.

6.5 VOX Function (Voice Operated Exchange)

The VOX function allows for hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice, eliminating the need to press the PTT button. Refer to the full instruction manual for details on how to activate and adjust VOX sensitivity.

6.6 Emergency Alarm
