1. Introduction and Overview
The ZTTO MTB Chain Guide is designed to prevent chain drop on mountain bikes, enhancing riding stability and chain retention. Crafted from ultralight, high-strength 7075 aluminum alloy using CNC machining, these chain guides offer durability without adding excessive weight.
There are four models available: CG-11, CG-12, CG-13, and CG-14. A key distinction lies in their compatibility:
- CG-11/CG-12: Designed specifically for 1x (single chainring) systems.
- CG-13/CG-14: Feature a movable pulley wheel, allowing compatibility with both 1x and 2x (double chainring) systems.
The chain guide acts as an anti-impact board, protecting your chainring and ensuring smooth chain operation during aggressive riding conditions.

3. Package Contents
Each package includes:
- 1 x ZTTO Chain Guide (selected model)
- Mounting Screws
- BB Mount Adapter (if applicable for your chosen model)

4. Setup and Installation
The ZTTO Chain Guide can be installed using either the BB Mount or ISCG-05 standard, depending on your bicycle frame. The BB mount adapter is included and is suitable for BSA 68mm standard frames.
BB Mount Adapter Installation:
- Remove your crankset and bottom bracket.
- Install the provided BB mount adapter. This adapter replaces a standard BB spacer. Ensure it is correctly seated against the bottom bracket shell.
- Reinstall your bottom bracket and crankset.
- Attach the chain guide to the BB mount adapter using the provided screws.
- Adjust the chain guide position to ensure proper alignment with your chainring and optimal chain retention.

ISCG-05 Installation:
If your frame has ISCG-05 tabs, you can directly mount the chain guide to these tabs using appropriate bolts (may or may not be included, depending on the specific model and package). Ensure correct alignment with your chainring.

5. Operation
Once installed, the ZTTO Chain Guide operates passively to keep your chain securely on the chainring. The design minimizes friction while maximizing chain retention, especially over rough terrain.
- CG-11/CG-12: These models are optimized for 1x systems, providing a fixed guide for single chainrings.
- CG-13/CG-14: These models feature a movable pulley wheel. This allows for adjustment to accommodate different chainring sizes and configurations, including 2x systems. The movable wheel ensures smooth chain movement across the chainring while maintaining tension and preventing drops.

6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ZTTO Chain Guide, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the chain guide, especially the pulley wheel and nylon block, to remove dirt, mud, and debris that can accumulate during rides. Use a soft brush and mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly.
- Lubrication: The bearing wheel in models CG-13/14 is designed for smooth rotation. While it uses durable bearings, occasional light lubrication can help maintain its performance, especially after cleaning or exposure to wet conditions.
- Nylon Block Inspection: The high-strength nylon block is designed to absorb impact and protect other components. Inspect it regularly for signs of wear or damage. If the block is significantly worn or broken due to impact, it is inexpensive and replaceable.
- Fastener Check: Ensure all mounting screws are securely tightened before each ride. Loose fasteners can lead to improper function or loss of the chain guide.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your ZTTO Chain Guide, consider the following:
- Chain Rubbing: If the chain rubs against the guide, check the alignment. For CG-13/14 models, adjust the movable pulley wheel to ensure it is centered with your chainring. For all models, ensure the entire guide is properly aligned with the chainline.
- Chain Still Dropping: Double-check that the chain guide is securely mounted and positioned correctly. Ensure your chainring size is within the compatible range for your specific chain guide model. Verify that all screws are tightened to prevent movement during riding.
- Loose Chain Guide: Tighten all mounting screws. If using a BB mount, ensure the adapter is correctly installed and not allowing play.
8. User Tips
- Compatibility with Motors: When using with e-bikes or bikes equipped with motors (e.g., M620 motor), always verify the clearance and mounting compatibility with your specific motor and frame setup before installation. Some motor designs may interfere with chain guide placement.
- Choosing the Right Model: If you have a 2x chainring system or anticipate switching between 1x and 2x, opt for the CG-13 or CG-14 models due to their movable pulley wheel, which offers greater versatility.
