5. Package Contents
- 1x Surpass Hobby Rocket V2 Series Waterproof Brushless Motor (selected KV/size)
- Mounting Screws (typically 4 screws)

6. Setup
- Mounting the Motor: Securely attach the motor to your RC vehicle's motor mount using the provided screws. Ensure proper alignment with the pinion gear.
- Gear Ratio Selection: Choose an appropriate pinion and spur gear combination for your vehicle and motor KV rating. Incorrect gearing can lead to overheating and reduced performance.
- ESC Connection: Connect the three motor wires (A, B, C) to the corresponding output wires on your Electronic Speed Controller (ESC). The 4mm gold-plated plugs ensure a secure connection. If the motor spins in the wrong direction, swap any two of the motor wires.
- Temperature Sensor Connection (Optional): If your ESC supports it, connect the built-in temperature sensor port on the motor to the designated port on your ESC. This enables overheat protection features.
- Initial Test: Before full operation, perform a brief test run to ensure all connections are correct and the motor operates smoothly.

7. Operating Instructions
Once the motor is properly installed and connected to a compatible ESC and power source, you can begin operation. Always ensure your RC vehicle is on a stable surface and clear of obstacles before starting. Gradually increase throttle to observe motor response and vehicle movement. Monitor motor temperature, especially during initial runs or after changing gearing, to prevent overheating.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the motor to remove dirt, dust, and debris. The removable/replaceable rotor design facilitates thorough cleaning. Use compressed air or a soft brush.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the motor for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections. Check the shaft for bends and bearings for smooth rotation.
- Bearing Lubrication: While the bearings are high-quality, occasional lubrication with a specialized RC motor bearing oil can extend their lifespan, especially after prolonged use in dusty or wet conditions.
- Water Exposure: Although waterproof, it is recommended to dry the motor thoroughly after exposure to water to prevent long-term corrosion, especially around the shaft and bearings.
9. Troubleshooting
- Motor Not Spinning: Check all electrical connections (motor to ESC, ESC to battery). Ensure the battery is charged and the ESC is properly calibrated.
- Motor Overheating: This can be caused by incorrect gearing (too high), excessive load, or insufficient cooling. Reduce gearing, check for binding in the drivetrain, or improve airflow around the motor.
- Loss of Power/Intermittent Operation: Inspect for loose wires, damaged connectors, or a faulty ESC. A damaged rotor or worn bearings can also cause this.
- Unusual Noise: Grinding or squealing noises often indicate worn or damaged bearings. A clicking sound might suggest debris in the motor or a damaged rotor. Disassemble and inspect if safe to do so, or seek professional assistance.
10. User Tips
- For optimal performance and longevity, always pair your motor with an ESC that has a suitable current rating and is compatible with brushless motors.
- Experiment with different pinion gear sizes to fine-tune the balance between speed and torque for your specific vehicle and driving style.
- Consider adding a motor fan for additional cooling, especially in high-demand applications or hot environments, even with the built-in heatsink.
- Regularly check the motor mounting screws to ensure they remain tight, preventing motor movement and potential gear damage.
