Model: HGM6120U / HGM6110U | Brand: HOHOCHAI

1. Overview

The 6100U series power station automation controller integrates digital, intelligent, and networked technologies for single generating set automation and monitoring systems. It enables automatic generator start/stop, data measurement, alarm protection, and "three remote" functions. The controller features a large liquid crystal display (LCD) with optional interfaces in Chinese, English, Spanish, and Russian, ensuring simple and reliable operation.

Utilizing microprocessor technology, the 6100U series precisely measures various parameters, performs fixed value adjustments, timing, and threshold settings. All controller parameters can be adjusted directly from the front panel, or via a PC using a programming interface (with SG72 adapter) or an RS485 interface for adjustment and monitoring. This system offers a compact structure, straightforward connection, and high reliability, making it suitable for various types of generating units.

The 6100U series includes four models:

  • 6110U/6110UC: Designed for single machine automation, enabling automatic start and stop of the power generation unit via remote control signals.
  • 6120U/6120UC: Builds upon the 6110U/6110UC by adding city electricity consumption monitoring and automatic municipal electricity/power generation switching control (AMF) functions. This model is particularly suited for single-machine automatic systems in urban environments.

Note 1: 6110UC/6120UC models include an RS485 interface, while 6110U/6120U models do not.

Key Connection Points:

  • Power Supply: Connect to a stable 8-35VDC source.
  • Gens Voltage: Connect generator voltage inputs (R, S, T, N).
  • Mains Voltage: Connect mains voltage inputs (R, S, T, N) for AMF functionality (6120U/6120UC models).
  • Current (Rated 5A): Connect current transformers for current monitoring.
  • RS485: For models with RS485 interface (6110UC/6120UC), connect for remote monitoring and control using MODBUS protocol.
  • Auxiliary Inputs/Outputs: Utilize terminals for various auxiliary functions such as engine parameters (oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level), speed sensor, and auxiliary outputs (e.g., pre-heating, idle speed control).

4. Operating Instructions

The controller features a user-friendly interface with a large LCD and touch buttons. The operating modes include Manual, Auto, and Manual Test.

4.3 Parameter Setting

Parameters can be adjusted directly from the controller's front panel using the navigation and OK buttons. For more advanced configuration, connect the controller to a PC via the programming interface (using an SG72 adapter) or the RS485 interface (for UC models). All settings are saved in non-volatile memory.

5. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your generator controller, regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Keep Clean: Regularly wipe the controller's surface and display with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Check Connections: Periodically inspect all wiring connections on the rear of the unit to ensure they are tight and free from corrosion. Loose connections can lead to intermittent operation or faults.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within specified temperature and humidity ranges. While the unit has an IP55 rating, prolonged exposure to harsh conditions should be avoided.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates that may improve performance or add new features.

6. Troubleshooting

The controller is equipped with comprehensive alarm protection and fault display functions to help identify and resolve issues. When a fault occurs, the controller's display will show an alarm message, and relevant indicators may illuminate.

  • Alarm Display: Pay attention to the specific alarm messages displayed on the LCD. These messages provide critical information about the nature of the fault (e.g., over-voltage, under-frequency, low oil pressure).
  • Protection Triggers: The controller will automatically shut down the generator or prevent it from starting if critical parameters exceed safe limits (e.g., over-voltage, under-voltage, over-frequency, under-frequency, over-current).
  • Resetting Alarms: After resolving the underlying issue, press the Stop/Reset button to clear the alarm and reset the controller.
  • Power Supply Issues: If the controller does not power on, verify the 8-35VDC power supply connections and voltage.
  • Communication Problems: If using RS485, check wiring and ensure correct MODBUS protocol settings.

If you encounter persistent issues that cannot be resolved using the above steps, consult a qualified technician or contact customer support.
