Setup Guide

1. Physical Connections

Follow these steps to connect your NVR system:

  1. Connect Power: Plug the included 12V power adapter into the NVR's DC 12V port and then into a power outlet.
  2. Connect Mouse: Plug the USB mouse into one of the NVR's USB ports.
  3. Connect Monitor: Connect a monitor to the NVR using either the VGA port or the HDMI port. For 4K resolution, use the HDMI port.
  4. Connect Network: Connect the NVR's network port to your router using an Ethernet cable.
  5. Connect Cameras:
    • If your NVR has built-in PoE ports, connect your PoE IP cameras directly to these ports.
    • If your NVR does not have enough built-in PoE ports or if you are using non-PoE cameras, connect your cameras to a separate PoE switch or power them individually, then connect the PoE switch or cameras to your network/router.
  6. Install Hard Drive (Optional): If you purchased an NVR without a pre-installed hard drive, you will need to install a 3.5-inch SATA HDD for local recording. Refer to the NVR's internal instructions for HDD installation.

2. Software Installation

To access your NVR remotely or via PC, you will need to install the appropriate software:

  • Mobile App: Download the free XMeye, XMeyepro, or icSEE app from the Apple App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android).
  • PC Software: Download the Windows or Mac OS version of the VMS (Video Management Software) from the official ASECAM website or the provided download links.

3. Initial Configuration (P2P Remote View)

The NVR supports P2P (peer-to-peer) technology for easy plug-and-play remote access. Follow these steps for initial setup:

  1. Scan QR Code: Open the mobile app (XMeye, XMeyepro, or icSEE) and use the 'Scan' function to scan the QR code displayed on your NVR's monitor or found on the NVR's label.
  2. Login: Enter the default username and password (refer to your NVR's specific documentation for default credentials, often 'admin' with no password or 'admin'/'123456'). It is highly recommended to change the default password immediately for security.
  3. Remote View: Once logged in, you can access the live view of your cameras from anywhere with an internet connection.

Operating Instructions

1. Live View

After successful setup, you can view live camera feeds on a connected monitor, through the PC VMS software, or via the mobile app. The NVR supports simultaneous multi-channel real-time viewing.

2. Recording

The NVR offers various recording modes:

  • Manual Recording: Start and stop recording manually through the NVR interface or software.
  • Motion Detection Recording: The NVR will automatically save footage when motion is detected by the cameras. You can configure specific areas (motion detection 'mask') to ignore constant movement and reduce false alarms.
  • Alarm Recording: Recording triggered by external alarms or specific events.
  • Scheduled Recording: Set specific times for continuous recording.

3. Playback

The NVR features smart playback, allowing you to review recorded footage efficiently. You can customize the searching area and speed through unimportant videos to quickly find relevant events.

4. AI Face Recognition

When paired with compatible cameras that support face detection, the NVR can clearly capture and record details of faces. This feature enhances security by providing specific identification information during events.

5. Email Alerts and App Push Notifications

Configure the NVR to send automatic email alerts and push notifications to your mobile app when motion is detected or other alarm events occur. This ensures you are immediately informed of any suspicious activity.

Maintenance

  • Regular Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Hard Drive Health: Monitor the health of your installed hard drive through the NVR's system settings. Replace the HDD if any issues are detected to prevent data loss.
  • Cleaning: Keep the NVR unit clean and free from dust to ensure proper ventilation and prevent overheating. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Password Security: Regularly change your NVR and app login passwords to strong, unique combinations to protect against unauthorized access.

Troubleshooting

  • No Video Output: Ensure the monitor is correctly connected via HDMI or VGA and powered on. Check the NVR's power status.
  • Cameras Not Displaying: Verify that cameras are powered, correctly connected to the NVR's PoE ports or a PoE switch, and that their IP addresses are correctly configured and discoverable by the NVR. The NVR supports ONVIF, so ensure your cameras are ONVIF compliant.
  • Remote Access Issues: Check your internet connection on both the NVR and your viewing device. Ensure the NVR is connected to the network and has internet access. Verify P2P settings and login credentials in the mobile app.
  • Recording Not Working: Check if a hard drive is installed and properly formatted. Ensure recording schedules or motion detection settings are correctly configured. Check HDD health.
  • NVR Not WiFi: This NVR model is designed for wired network connections via RJ45 Ethernet. It does not support direct WiFi connectivity for cameras or network access.
  • Using More Cameras Than NVR Ports: If you have more IP cameras than the NVR's built-in PoE ports (e.g., an 8-channel NVR with 16 cameras), you will need an external PoE switch to connect the additional cameras to your network. The NVR will then discover and manage these cameras over the network.
  • Compatibility with ICSEE Cameras: The NVR supports ONVIF and is compatible with XMeye/XMeyepro/icSEE apps, suggesting it should work with ICSEE cameras that adhere to these standards.

User Tips

  • For optimal storage, utilize H.265 compression to reduce file size by 40-50% compared to H.264, allowing for longer recording times on your hard drive.
  • When setting up motion detection, define 'mask' areas within the camera's view to prevent false alarms from constant movement (e.g., swaying trees, busy roads).
  • Ensure your IP cameras support face detection if you plan to utilize the NVR's AI face recognition feature for enhanced security and identification.
  • Take advantage of the multi-language support to configure the NVR interface in your preferred language, such as Spanish, Russian, or English.
