4. Installation

4.1 Safety Precautions

  • Ensure power is OFF before installation to prevent electric shock.
  • Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or a knowledgeable individual.
  • Follow local electrical codes and regulations.

4.2 Din Rail Mounting

The WDS688 energy meter is designed for 35mm DIN rail installation. Simply clip the device onto the DIN rail in your electrical panel.

4.3 Wiring Instructions

Connect the live (L) and neutral (N) wires according to the diagram below. Ensure correct input and output connections.

  • L in: Live wire input
  • N in: Neutral wire input
  • L out: Live wire output to load
  • N out: Neutral wire output to load

5. Initial Setup and App Pairing

5.1 Download the Mobile App

The SINOTIMER WDS688 works with either the Tuya Smart or Smart Life mobile application. Download the app from your smartphone's app store (Google Play Store for Android or Apple App Store for iOS).

5.2 Power On and Pairing Mode

  1. After successful wiring, turn on the main power supply. The energy meter's LCD screen should light up.
  2. Press and hold the "Pair" button on the energy meter until the Wi-Fi indicator starts blinking rapidly. This indicates the device is in pairing mode.

5.3 Add Device in App

  1. Open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app on your smartphone.
  2. Register or log in to your account.
  3. Tap the "+" icon (usually in the top right corner) to add a new device.
  4. Select "Electrical" or "Energy Meter" from the device categories.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the meter to your home Wi-Fi network. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during pairing.
  6. Once connected, the Wi-Fi indicator on the meter will stop blinking and remain solid.

6. Operation

6.1 Real-time Energy Monitoring

Once paired, you can view real-time energy data directly from the mobile app. The app displays:

  • Today's KWH consumption
  • Total KWH consumption
  • Real-time Current (Amperes)
  • Real-time Voltage (Volts)
  • Real-time Power (Watts)
  • Historical consumption data (e.g., monthly, yearly)

6.2 Remote Control ON/OFF

The app allows you to remotely turn connected appliances ON or OFF with a single tap, providing convenient control from anywhere.

6.3 Schedule and Timer Functions

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Device Not Powering On

  • Check all wiring connections (L in, N in) to ensure they are secure and correct.
  • Verify that the main power supply is turned ON.
  • Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (90-250V AC).

8.2 Unable to Connect to Wi-Fi / App

  • Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during the pairing process.
  • Make sure the energy meter is in pairing mode (Wi-Fi indicator blinking rapidly). If not, press and hold the "Pair" button.
  • Check your Wi-Fi password for accuracy.
  • Move the energy meter closer to your Wi-Fi router if signal strength is weak.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router and try pairing again.

8.3 Inaccurate Readings

  • Double-check the wiring to ensure L and N inputs/outputs are correctly connected and not reversed.
  • Ensure the connected load does not exceed the rated current of 60A.

8.4 Remote Control Not Responding

  • Verify that the energy meter is connected to Wi-Fi (solid Wi-Fi indicator).
  • Check your internet connection on your smartphone.
  • Ensure the app is up to date.

9. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself, as this will void the warranty and may pose a safety risk.
