4. Installation and Wiring
The TOMPD-8S is designed for easy installation on a standard Din rail. Ensure all power is disconnected before attempting installation or wiring.
4.1 Physical Installation
- Mount the device securely onto a 35mm Din rail in your electrical panel.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.
4.2 Wiring Diagram
Connect the device according to the wiring diagram below. Ensure correct polarity for DC circuits and proper phase/neutral connections for AC circuits. It is recommended to install appropriate fuses for protection.

Figure 4.1: Standard Wiring Diagram for TOMPD-8S
Terminal Descriptions:
- A1+, A2-: Power supply input terminals.
- 18(14): Common contact for the relay output.
- 15(11): Normally Open (NO) contact for the relay output.
- 26(22): Normally Closed (NC) contact for the relay output.
- 25(21): Another Normally Open (NO) contact for the relay output.
The diagram shows the input from the top side, connecting Line (L+) and Neutral (N-) through fuses to the device's A1+ and A2- terminals. The relay output contacts (18, 15, 26, 25) are used to control a contactor (KM) which in turn controls the LOAD. The 'Power-off position' indicates the state when the load is disconnected.
5. Operating Instructions
The TOMPD-8S features an LCD display and a keypad for easy operation and parameter setting.
5.1 Display and Buttons

6. Maintenance
The TOMPD-8S is designed for minimal maintenance. Regular checks can help ensure optimal performance:
- Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are tight and secure. Loose connections can lead to intermittent operation or damage.
- Environment: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges (-25°C~65°C, ≤85%RH, non-condensing).
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your TOMPD-8S, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Device not powering on: Check the input voltage at terminals A1+ and A2- to ensure it is within the rated supply voltage (AC/DC 110V~240V). Verify that fuses are intact.
- Device trips unexpectedly: Review your overvoltage and undervoltage threshold settings (U> SET, U< SET) and delay times (tU> S SET, tU< S SET). Ensure they are appropriate for your application and that the actual voltage is not exceeding these limits.
- Device does not reset after a trip: Check the 'Reset mode' setting (oRU SET). If set to 'HA' (manual reset), you will need to manually reset the device after a fault. If set to 'AU' (automatic reset), verify the 'Reset time' (t 3.0 S SET) is configured correctly.
- Incorrect voltage reading on LCD: Ensure the device is correctly wired and the input voltage is stable. If the error persists, the measurement error is typically ≤1%, but significant discrepancies may indicate a fault or incorrect wiring.
8. User Tips
- Solar Inverter Protection: This device can be considered for protecting solar inverters from under/over voltage conditions. However, always verify compatibility with the specific DC output characteristics of your solar panel system and inverter. Ensure the operating range of the protector matches the inverter's voltage.
- Setting Precision: When setting overvoltage or undervoltage thresholds, consider a small buffer (hysteresis) to prevent frequent tripping due to minor voltage fluctuations. The adjustable voltage hysteresis (U>U< SET) can help manage this.
- Fault History: Utilize the failure recording feature to check the last 3 faults. This can provide valuable diagnostic information for recurring issues.
9. Warranty and Support
For warranty information, technical support, or service inquiries, please contact your retailer or the manufacturer directly. Keep your purchase receipt as proof of purchase. Ensure to provide the model number (TOMPD-8S) and a detailed description of the issue when seeking support.
