1. Introduction

The CUSAM CS-SSRC-IRC is a versatile smart remote control designed to unify control over your infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF) home appliances. Compatible with both 433MHz and 315MHz RF frequencies, this device allows you to manage various electronics such as TVs, air conditioners, curtains, and roller shutters directly from your smartphone via the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. It also integrates seamlessly with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri for convenient voice control. With its extensive code database and DIY learning function, it offers a comprehensive solution for smart home automation.

2. Safety Information

• Ensure the device is powered by a DC 5V/1A adapter. Using an incorrect power supply may damage the device.
• Keep the device away from water and high humidity environments.
• Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel.

5. Setup

5.1 App Installation

The CUSAM Smart Remote Control operates with either the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" application. You only need to install one of these apps.

1. Scan the QR code provided below using your smartphone's camera.
2. Alternatively, search for "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" in your device's App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
3. Download and install the chosen application.
4. Open the app, sign up for a new account if you don't have one, and then log in.

5.2 Device Pairing

To add your smart remote control to the app:

1. Ensure the indicator light on the smart remote control is blinking.
2. Enable Wi-Fi (2.4GHz network) and Bluetooth on your smartphone.
3. Open the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" app.
4. Wait for a few seconds; the app should automatically detect the new device and display a pop-up dialog box.
5. Tap the "Add" icon in the dialog box to proceed with pairing.
6. If the dialog box does not appear, tap the "Add Device" (+) icon in the top right corner of the app, then tap "Add" when the device is discovered.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 App Remote Control

Once paired, you can control your IR and RF appliances from anywhere using the app.

• IR Control: Control devices like TVs, set-top boxes, air conditioners, fans, lights, audio systems, projectors, DVDs, cameras, heaters, and purifiers. The app supports over 99% of air conditioners on the market with automatic cloud matching.
• RF Control: Control devices such as curtains, roller shutters, window pushers, hangers, projection screens, garage doors, retractable doors, and RF switches. Compatible with RF 433/315MHz fixed code and learning code (not rolling code or encryption code).

6.2 Voice Control

Integrate your smart remote with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri for hands-free control.

• Amazon Alexa / Google Assistant: Link your Tuya Smart/Smart Life account to your Alexa or Google Home app. Then, use commands like "Alexa, turn on the TV" or "OK Google, set air conditioning temperature to 25 degrees."
• Siri (iOS 12.0 or later):
  1. Open the Tuya Smart app.
  2. Tap "+" (Create Scene) in the top right corner.
  3. Choose "Tap-to-Run".
  4. Add a task: select "Run the device", choose the device you want to control, select the function, and tap "Next".
  5. Tap "Save" to create the "Tap-to-Run" scene.
  6. Tap "Add to Siri".
  7. In the "Siri Shortcut" menu, select the scene you just created.
  8. Input a custom phrase (e.g., "Turn on living room TV") and tap "Add to Siri".
  Now, when you say your custom phrase to Siri, it will trigger the scene to control your device.

6.3 Timing and Automation

Set schedules and create smart automation routines within the app.

• Timing: Schedule your appliances to turn on or off at specific times. For example, set your TV to turn on at a certain time for a sports match.
• Automation (Tap-to-Run): Create scenarios where multiple devices are controlled with a single tap.
• Automation (Conditional): Interwork with other Tuya smart home devices (e.g., door sensors, temperature sensors, motion sensors - not included) to trigger actions automatically based on conditions like device status, weather, or time. For example, turn on the AC if the temperature exceeds a set limit.

6.4 DIY Learning Function (IR/RF)

If your specific device brand or model is not found in the app's extensive database, you can use the DIY learning function to copy signals from your original remote control.

• This function allows the smart remote to learn and replicate IR/RF signals from your existing remotes.
• Note: DIY controlled devices are generally not compatible with Amazon Alexa or Google Home voice control.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 General Issues

• Device not responding:
  • Ensure the smart remote control is powered on and connected to your Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz).
  • Check if the indicator light is active.
  • Verify that your smartphone has an active internet connection.
• IR Control not working:
  • IR signals cannot pass through walls or solid objects. Ensure a clear line of sight between the smart remote and the IR appliance.
  • The maximum effective IR range is 8 meters. Position the remote within this distance.
  • Confirm the correct IR code has been selected or learned for your appliance in the app.
• RF Control not working:
  • Ensure the RF appliance is within the 20-meter control range.
  • Verify that the RF appliance uses a 433MHz or 315MHz fixed code or learning code. Rolling code and encryption code remotes are not supported.
  • Confirm the correct RF code has been selected or learned for your appliance in the app.

8.2 Unsupported Remote Control Types

The following types of remote controls are NOT supported by this device:

• Two-way remote control
• Rolling code remote control
• Single-chip encryption program remote control

Additionally, certain brands and models may not be supported. Refer to the image below for a non-exhaustive list of unsupported RF brands/models.

9. Maintenance

• Clean the device regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
• Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
• Ensure proper ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.
• If the device is not in use for an extended period, disconnect it from the power source.

• Air Conditioner Compatibility: The device supports a vast majority of air conditioner brands. If your specific brand isn't immediately recognized, try the "DIY Learning Function" to teach the remote the necessary commands.
• Optimal Placement: For best performance, especially with IR devices, place the universal remote in a central location within the room, ensuring it has an unobstructed view of all appliances you wish to control.
• App Choice: You only need to install either the "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" app, not both. They offer similar functionalities for this device.
