7. Operation

7.1 Working Modes

The smart switch supports three working modes, configurable via the EWeLink app:

Diagram illustrating the three working modes: Inching Mode, Self-locking Mode, and Interlock Mode.

Figure 7.1: Three Working Modes

  1. Inching Mode: When a channel is switched ON, it will automatically switch OFF after a set duration (0.5-3600 seconds). This is useful for momentary actions like opening a gate.
  2. Self-locking Mode: Each channel operates independently. Switching a channel ON keeps it ON until manually switched OFF. This is like a standard ON/OFF switch.
  3. Interlock Mode: When one channel is switched ON, all other channels are automatically switched OFF. This prevents simultaneous operation, ideal for motors that move in opposite directions (e.g., open/close).

7.2 App Control

The EWeLink app provides comprehensive control over your smart switch module.

Figure 7.2: App Control Flexibility

  • Multiple Device Control: One EWeLink app can manage numerous smart switch modules.
  • Shared Device Control: A single smart switch module can be controlled by multiple authorized phones.

7.3 Voice Control

Integrate your smart switch with voice assistants for hands-free control.

Figure 7.3: Voice Control Functionality

The module is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Nest. You can use voice commands to turn connected appliances ON or OFF. For example, say "Alexa, turn on the light" or "Hey Google, close the curtains."

7.4 Scheduling and Timers

Automate your appliances with scheduled timers.

Figure 7.4: Set Your Schedule

You can set up to 8 scheduled, countdown, or loop timers for each device. For example, schedule your water boiler to turn on at 7:30 AM daily.

7.5 Sharing Control

Share access to your smart devices with family members or colleagues.

In the EWeLink app, use the device sharing function to grant permissions to others, allowing them to control the smart switch remotely.

7.6 Setting Interlock Mode on the EWeLink App

To configure Interlock mode for applications like motor control:

  1. Open the EWeLink app and navigate to the specific device (e.g., "Curtain switch").
  2. Tap the three dots icon (menu) in the top right corner to access Device Settings.
  3. Scroll down and find the "Inching Settings" or "Working Mode" option.

  • Appliance not responding to commands:
    • Verify that the smart switch module is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi (check the network indicator light).
    • Ensure the appliance is correctly wired to the relay output terminals (COM, NO, NC).
    • Check the working mode setting in the EWeLink app (Inching, Self-locking, or Interlock) to ensure it matches your intended operation.
    • Confirm that the appliance itself is functional.
  • Voice control not working:
    • Ensure your smart switch is successfully linked to your Amazon Alexa or Google Home account via the EWeLink app.
    • Check your internet connection.
    • Use the exact device names configured in the EWeLink app when giving voice commands.
  • RF remote not working (if applicable):
    • Ensure the RF remote is paired with the module (refer to pairing instructions for your specific remote).
    • Check the remote's battery.

9. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the EWeLink app for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
