Setup
Charging the Scanner
Before first use, ensure the scanner is fully charged. Place the scanner into its charging cradle. Connect the provided USB cable to the charging port on the cradle and plug the other end into a power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The indicator light on the scanner will show charging status.
Connection Modes
The NETUM DS5000 supports two wireless connection modes:
- 2.4G Wireless Connection: This mode uses the charging cradle as a receiver. Connect the cradle to your computer via the USB cable. The scanner will automatically connect wirelessly to the cradle.
- Bluetooth Connection: This mode allows direct pairing with Bluetooth-enabled devices. The cradle also supports auto-pairing for Bluetooth.

Pairing with Devices
For Bluetooth connection, activate Bluetooth on your host device (smartphone, tablet, or computer) and search for available devices. Select the NETUM DS5000 from the list to pair. The scanner is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. Please note that it is not compatible with Square, Google Chrome OS, or Amazon Fire devices.
Operating Instructions
Scanning Barcodes
The DS5000 offers two primary scanning methods:
- Auto-sensing Mode: When the scanner is placed in its cradle or configured for automatic scanning, it will detect and scan a barcode when it enters the scanning window without needing to press the trigger.
- Trigger Mode: Hold the scanner and press the scan button (trigger) to activate the scanning beam and read a barcode.
The CCD sensor allows for reading 1D barcodes directly from paper labels or digital screens (e.g., computer monitors, smartphones, tablets). The scanner is designed to read 1D barcodes only and cannot decode 2D, QR, or Data Matrix codes.

Out-of-Range Data Storage
If the scanner moves out of wireless range from its host device, it will automatically save scanned data into its internal memory buffer. Once the scanner returns within range, the stored data will be transmitted to the host device.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your NETUM DS5000 barcode scanner, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the scanner's lens and exterior with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the device.
- Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
- Protection: Protect the scanner from drops, impacts, and excessive vibration. When not in use, it is recommended to place it in its charging cradle.
- Battery Care: For best battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the scanner regularly.
Troubleshooting
Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter with your DS5000 scanner:

Image: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for the barcode scanner.
- Some barcodes cannot be read:
- Reason: Barcodes might be dirty, unclear, or damaged. Digital barcodes on screens might have insufficient brightness. Certain barcode types may be disabled by default.
- Solution: Ensure barcodes are clean and clearly visible. Adjust screen brightness for digital barcodes. If a specific barcode type isn't scanning, you may need to enable it by scanning a configuration barcode (refer to the full user guide or contact support).
- The data cannot be sent to my computer:
- Reason: The scanner might be in 'inventory mode', storing scans internally instead of transmitting them immediately.
- Solution: Scan the 'Manual data upload' barcode (usually found in the full user guide or quick start guide) to transmit all stored data to your connected device.
- Messy code problem encountered while using other foreign languages:
- Reason: The scanner's default language setting might not match the input language of your system.
- Solution: The default language is English. Refer to the 'Language Setting' chapter in the comprehensive user manual to change the setting to match your desired language.
- No Enter/Suffix after scan:
- Reason: The scanner is not programmed to add a functional prefix or suffix.
- Solution: Refer to the 'Common Function Barcodes' section in the full user guide to enable or disable suffixes like 'Enter'. If you cannot find the relevant barcode, contact customer support.
User Tips
- For high-volume scanning environments, utilize the auto-sensing mode with the charging cradle for hands-free and continuous operation.
- Take advantage of the long wireless transmission range to move freely within your workspace without losing connectivity.
- Always remember that the DS5000 is a 1D CCD barcode scanner. Ensure your scanning needs are limited to 1D barcodes, as it cannot read 2D or QR codes.
- Keep the scanner's battery charged to maximize uptime, especially during busy periods.
