9. Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and dry. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth if necessary.
  • Store the device with the protective cap on to prevent damage to the probes.
  • Remove batteries if the device is not used for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Avoid exposing the device to direct sunlight, high temperatures, or high humidity.

10. Troubleshooting

10.1 Common Issues

  • No display or weak display: Check battery levels and replace if necessary. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
  • Inaccurate readings: Perform a datum test (Section 7.2) to verify instrument accuracy. Ensure the correct material range (MAT) is selected for the material being tested (Section 7.4 and 8). Ensure probes are fully inserted into the material.
  • Device not turning on: Check battery installation. If the device has been idle for 10 minutes, short press the MODE button to reactivate it.

11. User Tips

  • Material Selection is Key: Always ensure you have selected the correct material group (MAT) using the SET button before taking a measurement. This is crucial for obtaining accurate results, especially when measuring different types of wood or building materials like plaster, cement, or concrete.
  • Probe Insertion: For consistent readings, ensure the probes are inserted to a uniform depth into the material.
  • Multiple Readings: Take several readings in different spots on the material to get a more representative average moisture content.
