Kamoer KDS Series Peristaltic Pump Instruction Manual

Models: KDS-FC, KDS-FE, KDS-FB, KDS-FA, KDS-FD

1. Introduction

The Kamoer KDS series peristaltic pumps are designed for precise liquid transfer in various applications, including aquariums, laboratories, and analytical instruments. These pumps are capable of handling both viscous and non-viscous liquids, as well as liquids containing particles, thanks to their robust design and resilient tubing. Key features include low noise operation, durable construction, and a range of motor options to suit different voltage and flow requirements.

3. Setup and Installation

3.1. Motor Identification

The KDS series offers various motor types. Identify your pump's motor type for correct installation and operation.

3.2. Physical Installation

The pump head can be fixed in two ways: by supporting it with its integrated stand or by using a through-hole mounting method. The pipe joints can be oriented in four different directions to accommodate various working environments.

3.3. Electrical Connection (Stepper Motor)

For stepper motor models, ensure correct wiring as per the diagram below. The stepper motor has a step angle of 1.8°.

Note: A dedicated driver board for speed control is not included by default with the stepper motor pump. If required, please ensure this need is communicated at the time of purchase.

4. Operating Instructions

The KDS peristaltic pump operates by compressing and releasing a flexible tube, moving fluid through it. This design ensures that the fluid only contacts the tubing, preventing contamination and making it suitable for a wide range of liquids.

4.1. General Operation

  1. Ensure the pump is securely installed and the tubing is correctly routed and connected to your fluid source and destination.
  2. Verify that the power supply matches the pump's voltage requirements (e.g., 12V, 24V).
  3. Turn on the power to the pump. The rotor will begin to turn, initiating fluid transfer.
  4. Monitor the flow rate and adjust as necessary. For stepper motor pumps, speed control typically requires an external driver board.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Tubing Replacement

The tubing is a consumable part and should be replaced periodically based on its material and usage. Refer to the 'Tubing Life' in the specifications section. The video demonstrates the process of replacing the tubing.

  1. Disconnect power to the pump.
  2. Open the pump head cover.
  3. Carefully remove the old tubing from the rotor and pump head channels.
  4. Insert the new tubing, ensuring it is properly seated around the rollers and within the pump head.
  5. Close the pump head cover securely.

5.2. Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the exterior of the pump is recommended. If the pump is used for corrosive liquids, ensure any spills are immediately cleaned to prevent damage to the pump housing. Since the fluid only contacts the tubing, internal cleaning of the pump mechanism is generally not required unless there is a tube rupture.

5.3. Storage

Store the pump in a dry environment within the specified temperature and humidity ranges (0~40℃, less than 80% humidity).

6. Troubleshooting

This section provides basic troubleshooting steps for common issues. For more complex problems, please contact customer support.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump not runningNo power, incorrect voltage, motor faultCheck power connection and supply voltage. Ensure correct motor type for voltage.
No fluid flow or low flowTubing kinked, clogged, worn out, or improperly installed; air in line; insufficient fluid sourceInspect tubing for kinks or clogs. Replace worn tubing. Ensure tubing is correctly seated. Prime the pump if necessary. Check fluid level.
Excessive noiseWorn tubing, motor issue, improper installationReplace tubing. Ensure pump is securely mounted. If noise persists, contact support.
