6. Setup and Installation

The MOES TRV Thermostat is designed for easy DIY installation, but requires a ZigBee hub for smart functionality.

6.1. ZigBee Hub Requirement

A ZigBee hub (wired or wireless) is necessary to connect the TRV to the Smart Life App and enable remote control, voice control, and programmable schedules. Without a hub, the TRV will function only as a basic manual thermostat.

6.2. Battery Installation

Remove the top cover of the TRV by twisting or gently pulling it off.
Insert two AA batteries into the battery compartment, ensuring correct polarity.
Replace the top cover.

6.4. Pairing with ZigBee Gateway

Ensure your ZigBee Gateway is powered on and connected to your home network.
Open the Smart Life App and add your ZigBee Gateway.
On the TRV, press and hold the 'minus' button until the blue antenna icon lights up, indicating pairing mode.

If the TRV's internal sensor is affected by heat from the radiator, setting the target temperature a few degrees higher than your actual desired room temperature can help achieve comfort.
Manual temperature adjustment directly on the TRV's digital screen remains functional even if there's a power outage or network issue, providing a reliable backup.
When choosing a ZigBee gateway, a wired option may offer better stability and support for a larger number of devices compared to a wireless gateway.
