GOBOOST DCS 1800MHz Mobile Signal Booster

GOBOOST 4G Cellular Amplifier (DCS 1800MHz / Band 3) Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

The GOBOOST 4G Cellular Amplifier is designed to enhance mobile signal strength for devices operating on the DCS 1800MHz (Band 3) frequency. This signal booster improves call quality, reduces dropped calls, and provides faster 4G LTE data speeds in areas with weak cellular reception, such as homes, offices, and other indoor spaces. It is particularly effective in regions where 1800MHz (Band 3) is the primary LTE frequency, including Russia, Spain, France, Brazil, Europe, and Asia.

Benefits of GOBOOST Cellular Amplifier: Reduce dropped calls, get faster data speed, boost 4G LTE voice quality, high gain & safe for home use.

4. Installation

4.1 Pre-Installation Check (Crucial)

Before installing, it is critical to confirm two things:

  1. Frequency Match: Ensure your current SIM card's signal frequency is 1800MHz (Band 3). This device only amplifies the corresponding signal frequency. If the frequency does not match, the device will not work.
  2. Outdoor Signal Strength: Verify that the outdoor location where you plan to install the antenna has at least 3 bars of mobile signal strength for Band 3. If the outdoor signal source is too weak, the booster may not function effectively.

4.2 Outdoor Antenna Installation

  1. Locate Strongest Signal: Find a point outdoors, preferably on the roof or a high place, where the mobile signal strength is the strongest.
  2. Mount Yagi Antenna: Fasten the outdoor Yagi antenna to a pole or 'knighthead' using the provided U-shaped sheets and hardware.
  3. Connect Cable: Link the cable to the outdoor antenna's N-Female connector. Ensure a secure connection.
  4. Waterproof Connection: Wrap the joint between the cable and the antenna with waterproof tape to protect it from weather elements.
  5. Orient Antenna: Change the direction of the outdoor Yagi antenna to face the nearest signal base station for optimal signal reception.

4.3 Indoor Antenna Installation

Install the indoor antenna (either Whip or Omni-Ceiling, depending on your kit) in the area where you need improved signal coverage. For Omni-Ceiling antennas, fix it to the ceiling.

4.4 Connecting the Booster Unit

  1. Connect Outdoor Antenna: Connect the cable from the outdoor antenna to the 'BTS' (Base Transceiver Station) port on the booster unit.
  2. Connect Indoor Antenna: Connect the cable from the indoor antenna to the 'MOBILE' port on the booster unit.
  3. Power On: Plug the AC power cord into the power source and then into the booster unit. The LCD display should light up.

4.5 Antenna Isolation

An outdoor antenna should be "isolated" from the internal antenna. This means there must be constructive obstacles (such as walls or partitions) between the antennas, and they should not be in the same horizontal line. A minimum distance of 10 meters between the indoor and outdoor antennas is recommended to prevent oscillation and ensure optimal performance.

5. Operation

Once the booster is correctly installed and powered on, it will automatically begin to amplify the 1800MHz (Band 3) signal. The LCD display on the booster unit provides real-time feedback on its operational status:

  • Signal Strength: Indicated by bars on the LCD, showing the current amplified signal level.
  • GAIN:OK: Indicates the gain function is operating correctly.
  • POWER:OK: Indicates the power output is within normal parameters.
  • +12V:OK / +5.0V:OK: Indicates the internal voltage levels are stable.

You should observe an improvement in your mobile phone's signal bars and overall network performance (call quality, data speed) in the coverage area.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your GOBOOST Cellular Amplifier, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemSolution
Indoor signal coverage very small or signal not very good after installation.
  • Adjust outdoor antenna's location and direction.
  • Check whether the cable is connected well.
  • Put the indoor receiving antenna in a position that receives more good signal.
  • Consider changing to a bigger power booster or a higher gain receiving antenna if outdoor signal is consistently weak.
Cellphone shows full signal bars, but communication quality is bad.The indoor and outdoor antennas are too close. Increase the separation distance between them (at least 10 meters, with physical barriers like walls).
Signal lattice blank and blink on the booster's LCD.This indicates no input signal or a very weak input signal. The position or direction of the outdoor receiving antenna needs to be adjusted to capture a stronger signal from the base station.

7. User Tips

  • Verify Frequency: Always double-check that your local cellular network operates on the 1800MHz (Band 3) frequency before purchasing and installing. This is the most common reason for the booster not working.
  • Outdoor Signal Strength: For optimal performance, ensure the outdoor antenna location has at least 3 bars of stable signal. If the outdoor signal is extremely low, even a booster may struggle to provide significant improvement.
  • Antenna Separation: Maintain adequate physical separation (minimum 10 meters) and a physical barrier (like a wall) between the outdoor and indoor antennas to prevent signal feedback and oscillation.
  • Kit Variations: The 'DCS1800B' kit typically includes a whip indoor antenna, while the 'DCS1800X' kit includes an omni-ceiling indoor antenna. Choose the kit that best suits your indoor coverage needs.

8. Maintenance

  • Secure Connections: Periodically check all cable connections to ensure they are tight and secure. Loose connections can degrade performance.
  • Waterproofing: Inspect the waterproof tape around outdoor cable connections regularly, especially after severe weather, and reapply if necessary to prevent moisture ingress.
  • Antenna Alignment: Ensure the outdoor antenna remains correctly aligned towards the cellular base station. Strong winds or other factors might shift its position.
  • Booster Placement: Keep the booster unit in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Avoid covering it or placing it in enclosed spaces.
  • Cleaning: Keep the booster unit and antennas clean from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
