3.2 Design and Durability

4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your KEFAR H8 Wireless Barcode Scanner:

  1. Connect the Charging Base: Plug the provided USB cable into the charging base and then into an available USB port on your computer or POS system. The base will light up, indicating power.
  2. Place the Scanner: Gently place the barcode scanner into the charging base. It will begin charging automatically.
  3. Pairing (Automatic): The 2.4G receiver integrated into the base should automatically pair with the scanner. Indicators on the base will confirm connection status.
  4. Select Scanning Mode: The scanner supports both Manual Scan Mode and Automatic Scan Mode. To switch between modes, scan the corresponding configuration barcode provided below:

  • Scan the 'Manual Scan (0X00)' barcode to activate manual scanning, requiring a trigger press for each scan.
  • Scan the 'Automatic Scan (0X09)' barcode to activate continuous scanning, where the scanner automatically detects and reads barcodes.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Scanning Barcodes

To scan a barcode:

  1. Ensure the scanner is powered on and connected (either wirelessly or via USB).
  2. Point the scanner's window at the barcode.
  3. If in Manual Scan Mode, press the trigger button. If in Automatic Scan Mode, the scanner will continuously scan.
  4. A successful scan will be indicated by a beep and/or a visual confirmation (e.g., LED indicator).

For optimal scanning, ensure the barcode is within the scanner's depth of field (10-800 mm) and the laser beam covers the entire barcode. Avoid extreme tilt angles as shown in Figure 3.3.

5.2 Supported Barcode Types

The KEFAR H8 scanner can identify a wide variety of 1D and 2D barcodes, including fuzzy codes, color codes, and irregular 2D codes. Supported symbologies include:

  • 1D Codes: UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-13, EAN-8, ISBN/ISSN, Code 39, Kudba, Cross 25 Codes, Industrial 25 Codes, Matrix 25 Codes, 128Codes, 93Codes, 11Codes, MSL/PLESSEY, UK/PLESSEY, UC-C/EAN128Codes.
  • 2D Codes: PDF417, QR Code (QR1/2, Micro), Data Matrix (ECC200, ECC000, 050, 080, 100, 140), Chinese Sensible Code.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Charging

The scanner is equipped with an 1800mAh battery. To charge, simply place the scanner into its charging base. Ensure the base is connected to a power source via the USB cable. The charging indicator lights on the base will show the charging status.

6.2 Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance, keep the scanner's reading window clean. Use a soft, lint-free cloth, slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution, to gently wipe the surface. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could scratch or damage the window.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KEFAR H8 scanner, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Scanner not connecting: Ensure the USB receiver is properly plugged into your computer and the scanner is fully charged. Try re-pairing by scanning the appropriate configuration barcodes.
  • Scanner not reading barcodes: Check that the scanner is in the correct scanning mode (manual or automatic). Ensure the barcode is clean, undamaged, and within the scanner's optimal reading range and angle.
  • Slow or inconsistent scanning: Verify that the scanner's battery is sufficiently charged. Ensure there are no obstructions between the scanner and the barcode.
  • No data output: Confirm the scanner is successfully paired with the receiver and the receiver is recognized by your computer. Test with a simple text editor to see if scanned data appears.

  • Keep the scanner's optical window clean to prevent reading errors.
