5. Installation & Wiring
The DSN-VC288 requires careful wiring for both its power supply and the circuit it will measure. Please follow the instructions and diagram below.
5.1 Wiring Diagram

5.2 Wiring Instructions
The module comes with two separate wire harnesses:
- Thin Red & Thin Black Wires (Power Supply for Module):
- Thin Red Wire: Connect to the positive (+) terminal of a DC 4.5V to 30V power source.
- Thin Black Wire: Connect to the negative (-) terminal of the DC 4.5V to 30V power source.
- This power source is solely for operating the voltmeter/ammeter module itself.
- Thick Red, Thick Black & Thick Yellow Wires (Measurement Wires):
- Thick Red Wire: Connect to the positive (+) terminal of the voltage source you wish to measure (DC 0-100V).
- Thick Black Wire: Connect to the negative (-) terminal of the voltage source you wish to measure. This wire also serves as the common ground for current measurement.
- Thick Yellow Wire: Connect in series with the load to measure current. This wire should be placed between the negative terminal of the power source and the negative terminal of the load.
Important Note: When measuring very low voltages (e.g., 0.1V) within its wide 0-100V range, the accuracy of this product may be limited. For applications requiring high precision at very low voltage levels, consider this characteristic.
6. Operation
6.1 Powering On
Once correctly wired, apply power to the thin red and black wires (DC 4.5V-30V). The red and blue LED displays will illuminate, showing the measured voltage and current respectively.
6.2 Reading Measurements
- The upper red LED display indicates the DC voltage in Volts (V).
- The lower blue LED display indicates the DC current in Amperes (A).
- Ensure the measured voltage and current are within the specified ranges (0-100V and 0-10A) for accurate readings.
7. Calibration
The DSN-VC288 module includes potentiometers on its PCB for fine-tuning the voltage and current readings if necessary. These are labeled V_ADJ (Voltage Adjustment), I_ADJ (Current Adjustment), and I_ADJ_2 (likely a secondary current adjustment).
- Procedure: To calibrate, connect the module to a known accurate voltage and current source. Use a small screwdriver to carefully adjust the respective potentiometers until the display matches the reference values.
- Caution: Calibration should only be performed by experienced users with access to calibrated reference equipment. Incorrect adjustment can lead to inaccurate readings.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Display: Check the power supply connections (thin red/black wires) to ensure correct voltage (DC 4.5-30V) and polarity.
- Incorrect Voltage Reading: Verify the thick red and black measurement wires are connected correctly to the voltage source. If slightly off, consider calibration using the V_ADJ potentiometer.
- Incorrect Current Reading: Ensure the thick yellow wire is correctly wired in series with the load. If the reading is slightly off (e.g., 0.96A instead of 0.00A when no current flows), it might be a calibration issue or a minimum current detection threshold. Adjust I_ADJ or I_ADJ_2 if necessary, or note the inherent accuracy limitations at very low currents.
- Display Flickering: Check for stable power supply to the module and secure connections.
- No Current Reading (Voltage OK): Confirm the load is drawing current and the thick yellow wire is properly integrated into the circuit in series.
9. User Tips
- For specific application wiring (e.g., automotive, power supplies), it is recommended to consult online resources and diagrams to ensure proper integration.
- This meter is suitable for use in motorcycles and cars to monitor battery voltage and current draw.
- While the meter has a wide voltage range, its accuracy for very small voltage measurements (e.g., below 0.1V) may not be optimal.
10. Maintenance
10.1 Care and Cleaning
- Keep the module clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the display or casing.
- Store the module in a dry, cool place when not in use.
11. Warranty & Support
