1. Introduction

The SUGON 2020D is a high-performance 700W hot air gun soldering station designed for precision electronic repair tasks. Featuring an LED microcomputer digital display, stable temperature control, and adjustable airflow, it is ideal for lead-free desoldering of various components such as SOIC, CHIP, QFP, PLCC, BGA, and SMD. Its intelligent design includes an induction switch on the handle for automatic standby and an air cooling function to prolong component life.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Always operate the soldering station in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and heat-resistant gloves.

6. Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Place the Station: Position the main unit on a stable, heat-resistant, and level surface in a well-ventilated area.
  3. Attach Handle Stand and Nozzle Bracket: Securely attach the handle stand and fan nozzle bracket to the side of the main unit as shown in Figure 1.
  4. Connect Hot Air Gun Handle: Plug the hot air gun handle cable into the handle socket on the front panel of the main unit. Ensure a firm connection.
  5. Select and Install Nozzle: Choose the appropriate nozzle for your task (cyclone or straight, various sizes) and securely attach it to the hot air gun. Place unused nozzles in the fan nozzle bracket.
  6. Connect Power: Plug the power cable into the power inlet on the back of the unit, then connect it to a suitable 110V or 220V AC power outlet.
  7. Initial Power On: Flip the power switch to the 'ON' position. The LED display will illuminate.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Power On/Off

Flip the main power switch located on the front panel to turn the unit ON or OFF.

7.2 Adjusting Temperature

  1. Press the 'TEMP' button. The temperature value on the LED display will flash.
  2. Use the up (▲) and down (▼) arrow buttons to adjust the desired temperature.
  3. The unit will quickly reach and stabilize at the set temperature.

7.3 Adjusting Airflow

  1. Rotate the 'AIR' adjustment knob clockwise to increase airflow or counter-clockwise to decrease it.
  2. The airflow level will be displayed on the LED screen.

7.4 Using Memory Channels (CH1, CH2, CH3)

The station features three memory channels to store frequently used temperature and airflow settings:

  1. To Save: Set your desired temperature and airflow. Press and hold one of the CH1, CH2, or CH3 buttons until the display indicates the settings are saved.
  2. To Recall: Briefly press the desired CH1, CH2, or CH3 button. The station will automatically adjust to the stored settings.

7.5 Straight Air / Spiral Air Selection

Use the 'Straight Air/Spiral Air' buttons to switch between different airflow patterns based on your application needs. Spiral air is generally preferred for even heating and component safety.

7.6 Handle Induction Switch

The hot air gun handle is equipped with an induction switch. When you pick up the handle, the system quickly enters working mode. When you place the handle back into its stand, the system automatically enters standby mode, reducing power consumption and prolonging the life of the heating element.

7.7 Celsius and Fahrenheit Conversion

The unit supports conversion between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units. Refer to the full manual for specific button combinations to toggle this setting.

7.8 Temperature Calibration Function

If the heating element is replaced or if you suspect temperature inaccuracies, the unit can be recalibrated. This machine uses a digital temperature calibration method where corrections can be made via incremental key input. Refer to the full manual for detailed calibration steps.

8. Maintenance

  • Nozzle Care: Keep nozzles free from solder residue and debris to ensure optimal airflow and performance.
