Thank you for choosing the SURGOAL Elite GT-120 Green Laser Rangefinder. This device is a high-precision digital measurement tool designed for accurate distance, area, volume, and angle calculations. Featuring a high-visibility green laser and an electronic angle sensor, it is suitable for various indoor and outdoor measurement tasks, including decoration, construction, and general home improvement projects. Please read this manual carefully before use to ensure safe and optimal operation.
2. Safety Information
This device uses a laser. Please observe the following safety precautions:
- Laser Class: The normal mode conforms to Class 2 laser safety standards (<1mW). The outdoor mode conforms to Class 3A.
- Eye Protection: Never look directly into the laser beam or point it at others. Direct exposure can cause eye damage.
- Children: Keep the device out of reach of children.
- Reflective Surfaces: Avoid pointing the laser at highly reflective surfaces, as reflected beams can also be hazardous.
- Modifications: Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the device. Unauthorized modifications can lead to hazardous laser exposure and void the warranty.

5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide or unclip the cover to open it.
- Insert three (3) AAA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
5.2 Power On/Off
- Power On: Short press the MEAS button to turn on the device. The laser will activate.
- Power Off: Long press the C button to turn off the device. The device will also automatically shut down after 180 seconds of inactivity, and the laser will turn off after 30 seconds of inactivity.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Single Measurement
Short press the MEAS button to turn on the instrument. The default mode is single measurement. Aim the laser at the target and short press MEAS again to perform the measurement. The distance will be displayed on the screen.

6.2 Continuous Measurement (Tracking)
Long press the MEAS button to enter continuous measurement mode. The screen will display the actual distance, as well as the maximum and minimum values recorded during the continuous measurement. This is useful for tracking distances as you move the device.

6.3 Area Measurement
Short press the button with four squares to switch to area measurement mode. Measure the length and width sequentially. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

6.4 Volume Measurement
Short press the button with four squares repeatedly until the volume measurement icon appears. Measure the three side lengths (length, width, height) sequentially. The device will immediately display the calculated volume.

6.5 Pythagorean Measurement
The device supports three types of Pythagorean measurements for indirect height or height difference calculations.
- Pythagorean 1 (Height Measurement): Short press the button with four squares until the Pythagorean 1 icon appears. Measure the hypotenuse and one right-angle side. The device calculates the height.
- Pythagorean 2 (Height Difference 1): Short press the button with four squares until the Pythagorean 2 icon appears. Measure two hypotenuses and one right-angle side. The device calculates the height difference.
- Pythagorean 3 (Height Difference 2): Short press the button with four squares until the Pythagorean 3 icon appears. Measure two hypotenuses and one right-angle side. The device calculates the height difference.

6.6 Angle Measurement
The integrated electronic angle sensor and two bubble levels allow for real-time angle measurement. The display will show the current angle, and the bubble levels provide visual confirmation for horizontal and vertical alignment.

6.7 Unit Switching
Short press the U button to cycle through distance units: meters (m), feet (ft), feet+inches (ft+in), and inches (in).

6.8 Reference Point Selection
The device can measure from either its front or back end. Short press the button with a ruler icon to switch the measurement reference point between the front and back of the device. The display will indicate the current reference point.

6.9 Mute Mode
After the instrument is turned on, the buzzer works by default. Long press the button with four squares to activate mute mode. You will hear a "beep" sound, and the mute mode will be on, silencing the device's audible feedback.

6.10 Laser Brightening Button
The device features a unique laser brightening button (sun icon). Press this button to increase the brightness of the green laser, enhancing visibility, especially in brighter conditions or over longer distances.

6.11 Historical Data Record
The device can store up to 30 groups of measurement data. Use the navigation buttons (e.g., + and -) to review past measurements.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Lens Care: Gently clean the laser lens with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid touching the lens with your fingers.
- Storage: Store the device in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The recommended storage temperature is -20℃ to 60℃.
- Battery Removal: If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
- Impact: Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.
8. Troubleshooting
The device provides error code prompts. Refer to the on-screen messages for specific issues. Common issues and tips:
- Measurement Error: Ensure the laser beam is not obstructed and the target surface is suitable for reflection. Extreme lighting conditions or highly absorbent surfaces can affect accuracy.
- Inaccurate Readings: Verify the correct reference point (front or back) is selected. Ensure the device is held steady and level, utilizing the built-in bubble levels.
- Device Not Powering On: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace with fresh AAA batteries if necessary.
- Laser Not Visible: Use the laser brightening button in bright conditions. Ensure the laser aperture is clean.
9. User Tips
- Daylight Performance: The high-visibility green laser performs well in daylight conditions, making outdoor measurements more reliable.
- Durability: The device features rubberized ends, providing enhanced protection against impacts and wear.
- Short Distance Accuracy: For very short distances (e.g., 20-30 cm), the device maintains its specified accuracy of approximately +/- 2mm per meter.
- Leveling: Always utilize the two integrated bubble levels to ensure the device is perfectly horizontal or vertical for the most accurate measurements, especially for area, volume, and Pythagorean calculations.
