The SKYRC iMAX B6 mini is a high-performance, micro-processor controlled charge/discharge station with battery management suitable for use with all current battery types. It features an integrated equalizer for up to 6-cell LiPo, LiFe, and LiIon batteries. With a maximum charge power of 60W and discharge power of 5W, it supports a wide range of charging and discharging currents. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your charger.

2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: NEVER USE THE CHARGER UNSUPERVISED!

  • LiPo batteries pose a SEVERE risk of fire and explosion. Always exercise extreme caution when handling and charging LiPo batteries.
  • Read the entire operating manual before using the charger.
  • This unit will emit heat during charging/discharging. Operate the charger in a well-cooled and ventilated area.

5. Setup

  1. Connect the AC power cable to the SKYRC AC Adapter.
  2. Plug the AC power cable into a suitable wall outlet.
  3. Connect the output cable of the AC Adapter to the DC input port (DC 11-18V) on the side of the B6 mini charger.
  4. Connect the main charging cable to the output ports (red for positive, black for negative) on the front of the B6 mini charger.
  5. If using a balance-capable battery (LiPo, LiFe, LiIon), connect the battery's balance lead to the appropriate balance socket on the side of the charger.
  6. Connect the main charging cable to your battery.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Charging Operation (Balance Charge Example)

  1. Ensure the AC adapter, balance port interface, charging cable, and battery are all correctly connected to the B6 mini charger.
  2. Press the [INC] key to navigate to the 'Start' menu.
  3. Select the appropriate battery type (e.g., LiPo, LiFe, LiIon, NiMH, NiCd, PB).
  4. Choose the 'Charging model', typically 'BALANCE CHG' for lithium-based batteries to ensure cell balancing.
  5. Set the desired Charging Current (0.1-6.0A) and the Battery Section Number (e.g., 1-6S for LiPo). Use the "DEC" or "INC" keys to adjust these values.
  6. Long press the "START" key to initiate the charging process. The display will show charging status.

6.2. Discharging Operation

  1. Ensure the AC adapter, balance port interface, charging cable, and battery are all correctly connected to the B6 mini charger.
  2. Navigate through the menu to select the 'DISCHARGE' function.
  3. Set the desired Discharger Current (0.1-2.0A) and the Cell number for your battery. Use the "DEC" or "INC" keys to adjust these values.
  4. Press the "START" key to enter Discharge mode and begin the process.

6.3. Advanced Features

  • Lithium Battery Balancer: The B6 mini employs an individual-cell-voltage balancer for precise balance charging.
  • Program Data Store/Load: The charger can store up to 10 different charge/discharge profiles for convenience, allowing you to recall data at any time without special program settings.
  • Battery Meter: Check the battery's total voltage and each cell's individual voltage.
  • Battery Resistance Meter: Measure the internal resistance of each cell.
  • Maximum Safety: Features include Automatic Charging Current Limit, Capacity Limit, Temperature Threshold, and Processing Time Limit for enhanced safety.
  • Terminal Voltage Control (TVC): Allows users to set the charge/discharge end voltage.

6.4. ChargeMaster Software

The SKYRC iMAX B6 mini can be connected to a PC via its PC Link port to utilize the ChargeMaster software. This software allows for advanced monitoring and control of charging/discharging processes, including graphical representation of battery data.

7. Maintenance

  • Keep the charger clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Store the charger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

  • Battery not charging/discharging: Verify all connections are secure. Ensure the correct battery type and parameters (current, cell count) are selected.
  • Charger overheating: Ensure the charger is operating in a well-ventilated area. Reduce the charging/discharging current if necessary.

9. User Tips

  • Always double-check your battery type and cell count settings before starting any charge or discharge cycle to prevent damage to the battery or charger.
  • For LiPo batteries, always use the balance charge mode to extend battery life and ensure safety.
  • Consider using the ChargeMaster software for detailed monitoring and logging of your battery cycles.
  • Keep the charger's firmware updated if new versions are released by SKYRC.
