4. Components and Controls

  1. Temperature & Humidity Sensor: Located at the top, protected by a shatter-resistant cover.
  2. HD Display: Shows temperature, humidity, and other readings.

  5. Mode Switch (H Button): Activates Data Hold function.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Battery Installation

The PM6508 requires four (4) 1.5V AAA batteries (not included). To install the batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert four AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

Note: Batteries are not included due to air mail regulations.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the Power On/Power Off button (green circle) to turn the device on.
  • Press and hold the Power On/Power Off button to turn the device off.

6.2 Measuring Temperature and Humidity

Upon powering on, the device will automatically display the current ambient temperature and relative humidity. Ensure the sensor at the top is exposed to the environment you wish to measure.

6.3 Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)

  • Press the °C/°F button to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.

6.4 Data Hold Function

  • Press the H button to freeze the current readings on the display. The "HOLD" indicator will appear.
  • Press the H button again to release the data hold and resume live readings.

6.5 MAX/MIN Measurement

  • Press the MAX/MIN button to cycle through maximum, minimum, and current readings.
  • The display will show "MAX" or "MIN" to indicate the mode.
  • Press the button repeatedly to view the maximum, minimum, and then return to current readings.

6.6 Dew Point and Wet Bulb Temperature

  • Press the DP WB button to switch the display to show Dew Point Temperature or Wet Bulb Temperature.
  • The corresponding indicator ("DEW POINT" or "WET BULB") will appear on the screen.

6.7 Data Storage and Retrieval (MEM/READ)

The device can store up to 100 groups of data.

  • To store data: Press the MEM button. The current readings will be saved.
  • To retrieve stored data: Press the READ button. Use the MIN/MAX buttons to navigate through the stored data groups.

6.8 Backlight

  • Press the Backlight button (sun icon) to turn the display backlight on or off.

6.9 Auto Power-Off

The device features an automatic power-off function to save battery. If no button is pressed for a certain period, the meter will automatically shut down. This feature can usually be disabled or adjusted in advanced settings, though specific instructions are not provided here.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Sensor Care: Keep the temperature and humidity sensor clean and free from dust or debris to ensure accurate readings. Avoid touching the sensor directly.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
