Getting Started:
Pairing the Motion Controller:
- Turn on your PS4TM system.
- Connect the motion controller to your PS4TM system using the USB cable supplied.
- Press the (PS) button on the motion controller to pair it with your PS4TM system.
- Remove the USB cable.
Using the Motion Controller:
- Notice: Always disconnect the USB cable before use.
- Press the (PS) button on the motion controller.
- Wear the strap on your wrist and use the strap lock to tighten it.
Configuring Controller Settings:
Select (Settings) → [Devices] → [Controllers] from the function screen to configure settings such as enabling vibration. You can adjust settings while playing a game by pressing and holding the (PS) button and following on-screen instructions.
Charging the Motion Controller:
Charge the motion controller by connecting it to a turned-on PS4TM system using a USB cable. The status indicator blinks slowly while charging and turns off when charging is complete.

- Do I need to pair the motion controller every time I use it?
No, you only need to pair it with your PS4TM system the first time you use the motion controller. - How do I enable or disable vibration on the controller?
To enable or disable vibration, go to Settings → [Devices] → [Controllers] and toggle the Vibration function. You can also adjust settings during gameplay by holding the (PS) button.

- Do not use with the USB cable connected.
- Attach the supplied strap to the motion controller and wear the strap on your wrist.
- When using the motion controller, hold the controller firmly to help prevent the controller from being thrown accidentally. Furthermore, avoid swinging the controller with excessive force.
- Before use, make sure that there is plenty of space around you.
- Do not handle damaged or leaking lithium-ion batteries.
Use and handling
- Do not hold the sphere too tight or place objects on top of it, as doing so may cause it to become misshapen.
- Do not expose the product to high temperatures, high humidity or direct sunlight.
- Do not allow the product to come into contact with liquids.
- Do not put heavy objects on the product.
- Do not throw or drop the product, or otherwise expose it to strong physical impact.
- Do not touch the connectors of the motion controller.

Getting started
Pairing the motion controller
The first time you use a motion controller, you’ll need to pair it with your PS4™ system. You only need to do this the first time you use the motion controller.
- Turn on your PS4™ system.
- Connect the motion controller to your PS4™ system. Use the USB cable supplied with your PS4™ system.
- Press the
(PS) button on the motion controller to pair it with your PS4™ system.
- Remove the USB cable.
Hints
- Use PS4™ system software version 4.70 or later.
- You can use up to four motion controllers at one time. To use two or more motion controllers, pair each controller separately.
- Pairing a motion controller with another system clears the previous pairing.
Connecting/setting up a camera
To use the motion controller you’ll also need to connect and set up a PlayStation®Camera (sold separately). For details, refer to the instruction manual for the PlayStation®Camera.
Using the motion controller
Notice
Always disconnect the USB cable before use.
- Turn on your PlayStation®4 system.
- Press the
(PS) button on the motion controller. The controller is automatically assigned to a user.
- Wear the strap on your wrist
Hints
- Press and hold the T button to use the motion controller to navigate menus. Press the Move button or
button to select an item.
- To quit a game, press and hold the
(PS) button, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Configuring the controller settings
Select (Settings) ➡ [Devices] ➡ [Controllers] from the function screen.
Enable Vibration
Turn the vibration function on or off. Clearing the checkbox disables the function, and the controller won’t vibrate even if you enable vibration in the game settings.
Hint
You can also adjust some settings while playing a game. Press and hold the (PS) button, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Charging the motion controller
Charge the motion controller by connecting it to a PS4™ system that is turned on, using a USB cable. While the motion controller is charging, the status indicator blinks slowly. When charging is complete, the status indicator turns off.
Hints
- Use the USB cable supplied with your PS4™ system.
- You can also charge the controller while the PS4™ system is in rest mode. From the PS4™ system’s function screen, go to
(Settings) ➡ [Power Save Settings] ➡ [Set Features Available in Rest Mode] ➡ [Supply Power to USB Ports], and then select an option other than [Off].
- Check the battery charge level on the screen by pressing and holding the
(PS) button.
Battery
- Battery duration might vary depending on usage conditions and environmental factors.
- The battery has a limited lifespan. Battery charge duration gradually decreases with repeated usage and age. Battery life also varies depending on the storage method, usage state, environment and other factors.
- Charge in an environment where the temperature range is between 10 °C-30 °C (50 °F-86 °F). Charging may not be as effective when performed in other environments.
Resetting the motion controller
If the motion controller responds abnormally or does not work as intended, try resetting it by pressing the reset button on the back of the controller with a fine-tipped object such as a pen.
Storage
If you don’t plan to use the motion controller for an extended period of time, it is recommended that you fully charge it at least once a year to help maintain battery functionality.
End of life product recycling
The motion controller is made of plastics, metals and a lithium-ion battery. Follow local regulations when disposing of the system. Sony products can be recycled for free in the United States and Canada by dropping the product off at a number of nationwide locations.
