Controls

The controls are located on the top of the heater consisting of a display screen and three buttons and a Dial:

Quick Start Guide

The heater is fitted with an adjustable thermostat enabling the room temperature to be controlled. The minimum room temperature is 7°C. The maximum temperature is set to 30°C by default. A temperature of 21°C is a common comfortable room temperature.

The heater controls can be easily adjusted by using the Dial and buttons on the User Interface.

The screen colour changes based on the temperature selected, showing deep blue through to bright red.

Important Notes:

How the Heater Control Works

The control system allows selection of heating on-times and temperature. A low-speed fan discharges stored heat from the core into the room. 'Heating On' periods are when the heater provides heat; 'Heating Off' periods are when it does not. During 'Heating On' periods, the fan maintains the set temperature. During 'Heating Off' periods, the fan is off. There may be a delay of up to a minute for fan operation when switching between modes, which is normal.

Setting the Time and Date

The time and date are factory set but can be checked and adjusted via the Menu > Time/Date option. Rotate the Selector Dial to the correct value and press to confirm. The time automatically adjusts for GMT/BST changes. It is recommended to check the time every couple of months.

Setting the Temperature

The display shows the room temperature setpoint, which the heater maintains during 'Heating On' periods. If the room temperature is higher, the fan will not operate. The factory default is 21°C. Rotate the Selector Dial clockwise or anti-clockwise to adjust the desired temperature.

[Visual: Display showing 21°C]

Note: To change the temperature permanently, modify the room temperature setpoint in your selected timer mode.

Setting the Timer Mode

Your heater comes with four pre-programmed timer modes:

Note: 'Heating On' times and room temperature setpoints in all modes can be customized.

Which Timer Mode is Best?

The heater defaults to 'User Timer'.

Advance Function

The Advance function allows temporary changes to heating schedules. If the heater is in 'Heating Off' mode and heat is desired, press 'Advance'. If in 'Heating On' mode and heat is not desired, press 'Advance'. The heater will then operate until the beginning of the next scheduled 'Heating On' period before returning to the timed schedule.

[Visual: Menu showing 'Advance' option highlighted]

Boost

A supplemental boost element provides additional heating for unusually cold weather. The boost duration can be selected from one to four hours, after which it automatically switches off.

Note: The Boost element uses peak rate electricity and may increase running costs.

Step 1: Unpacking and Initial Setup

[Diagram: Figure 1 shows the heater flat on the ground with arrows on the carton base pointing upwards. Figure 2 illustrates opening the carton from the bottom, sliding the heater out by at least 200mm to expose the feet and fixing kit. The feet and fixing kit are then removed. Foot screws are located within the fixing kit.]

⚠️ WARNING: The appliance must be securely fixed to the wall. The installed appliance could weigh up to 165kg and if it falls off the wall it could cause severe personal injury or death. It is the responsibility of the installer to ensure that the appropriate wall fixing is used and that the floor is capable of bearing the full weight.

Step 2: Securing the Feet

[Diagram: Figure 3 shows securing the feet to the heater using all provided screws (4 per heater). For models QM050, QM070, and QM100, there are two possible locations marked X and Y on the heater base. Ensure feet are fixed at location holes marked 'X'. If replacing a heater, check the existing foot pitch and choose appropriate positions (X or Y).]

Step 3: Removing Panels

[Diagram: Figure 4 shows removing screws holding the grille panel. Figure 5 illustrates removing screws retaining the heater sides and pushing the sides upwards to release them. Figure 6 shows removing screws securing the front panel and swinging its upper edge upwards to unhook it from the base.]

Note: Retain screws for reassembly. Use M4 X 10 Tritap screws if misplaced.

Step 4: Fixing the Heater to the Wall

[Diagram: Figure 7 shows placing the heater in its final position and marking wall fixing locations visible through the back. The wall fixing bracket is then removed from the heater. Figure 8 shows common fixing points for all heater sizes. The wall bracket is positioned on the marks, holes drilled, and appropriate wall fixings fitted. The heater is then positioned over the bracket and secured with screws at either side.]

Wall Fixing Recommendations:

Note: For other wall types (e.g., timber frame, hollow concrete), seek specialist advice.

⚠️ NOTE: DO NOT FULLY TIGHTEN THE SIDE FIXING SCREWS UNTIL THE ENERGY CELLS ARE FULLY LOADED TO ENSURE FULL WEIGHT IS ON THE FEET AND NOT ON THE WALL FIXINGS.

Step 5: Mains Cable Entry

[Diagram: Figure 9 shows the mains cable entry and terminal block visible in the centre cavity on the right-hand side. Insert mains cables through the cable gland at the bottom of the heater.]

Cable Sizes:

Only heat-resistant ordinary polyvinyl chloride sheathed flexible cord should be used (IEC: 60227 IEC57 or CENELEC: H05V2V2-F).

Connecting Mains Supplies

⚠️ WARNING: The electrical installation of this heater must be carried out by a suitably qualified or trained electrician, and be in strict accordance with current wiring Regulations.

Supply circuits must incorporate a double pole isolating switch with at least 3mm contact separation.

Note: Plug and socket arrangements MUST NOT be used. This heater must be earthed. Do not locate the heater immediately above or below a fixed electrical point (e.g., socket outlet). This appliance is for single-phase supply only, not 3-phase.
