Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and security for your Deco XE75/A system.

Firmware Updates:

TP-Link regularly releases firmware updates to improve performance, add new features, and enhance security. It is recommended to keep your Deco system's firmware up to date. You can check for and install updates via the TP-Link Deco app.

  • Open the TP-Link Deco app.
  • Navigate to More > System > Firmware Update.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install any available updates.

General Care:

  • Keep Deco units in well-ventilated areas to prevent overheating.
  • Avoid placing units near strong electromagnetic interference sources.
  • Clean the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Deco XE75/A system, try the following troubleshooting steps:

No Internet Connection:

  • Check Modem/Router: Ensure your modem and any existing router are working correctly and have an active internet connection.
  • Check Cables: Verify that all Ethernet cables are securely connected to the Deco unit and modem.
  • Reboot System: Power off your modem, then your Deco units. Wait for 30 seconds, then power on the modem first, wait for it to fully boot, and then power on your Deco units.
  • Deco App Status: Check the status of your Deco network in the TP-Link Deco app. It may provide specific error messages or guidance.

Slow Wi-Fi Speed or Weak Signal:

  • Unit Placement: Ensure Deco units are placed optimally to cover your home. Avoid placing them behind large metal objects or thick walls.
  • Interference: Keep Deco units away from other electronic devices that might cause interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
  • Device Compatibility: Ensure your devices support Wi-Fi 6E for optimal performance on the 6GHz band.
  • Network Congestion: The AI Mesh feature should automatically optimize channels, but if you suspect congestion, you can check network usage in the Deco app.

Deco Unit Not Responding:

  • Power Cycle: Unplug the power adapter from the unresponsive Deco unit, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in.
  • Reset: If power cycling doesn't work, locate the reset button (usually a small pinhole) on the bottom of the Deco unit. Press and hold it for about one second until the LED turns red, then release. This will reset the unit to factory defaults, requiring re-setup via the app.
