Pond Filtration System – Set Up Guide

1. The pump is submerged under the water.
2. The pump pushes water via a hose to the filter inlet.
3. The filter then cleans the water.
4. The clean water then exits the filter outlet.
5. Water returns to the pond under pressure.

This filtration cycle continuously keeps the pond water clean, oxygenated, and healthy.

Pump Set Up

Pumps are designed for easy setup and are complete units upon receipt. The main tasks involve connecting the filter to your electricity supply and connecting the hosetails.

Important Note: Pumps and filters are not supplied with plugs due to UK building regulations. Consult a qualified electrician for electrical installation.

PondXpert MightyMite / FlowMaster / Ultraflow Pump Notes

These pumps are filter pumps designed to push dirty water to a filter. The MightyMite and Ultraflow pumps cannot run a fountain, whereas the FlowMaster pumps can.

PondXpert MightyMite Pumps

The MightyMite pump includes various sized hosetails. Select the correct hosetail for your hose, attach it to the pump casing, connect the hose, and secure with a hose clip. This hose then connects to the filter.

PondXpert FlowMaster Pumps

The FlowMaster 3500 and 4500 feature a secondary strainer cage to prevent debris from entering the pump's impeller. This cage should be affixed when using the fountain attachment to prevent small particles from clogging the fountainhead.

The fountain attachment is optional. If filtering only, follow these steps to remove the strainer cage:

• Unscrew the retaining screw at the lower rear of the pump.
• Depress the four retaining clips on the outer pump housing to separate it and access the pump.
• Twist and pull the mesh cage off the front of the pump.
• Re-secure the pump housing with the screw.

Fit the supplied multi-stage hosetail (ensure the rubber washer is in place) and cut it to the required hose size (e.g., 25x32 or 40mm).

Using the FlowMaster to power a fountain AND filter

To use both fountain and filter functions simultaneously, set up the fountain kit first as per its instructions. Thread the fountain to the pump's outlet cage. Various fountain heads are provided for different effects.

For flow to the filter, attach a flexible hose to the 25mm outlet on the side of the T-piece. The flow regulator allows adjustment of flow to the fountain and/or the main pump unit for filtration.

PondXpert Ultraflow Pumps

Screw the supplied stepped hosetail onto the outlet. Connect the pond hose over the hosetail and secure with a hose clip. This hose then connects to the filter.

Note: Ultraflow pumps have an 'alternative inlet' for use with skimmers. For all other situations, use the inlet guard to block part of the strainer cage. Only use the hosetail with the large blue nut. The normal outlet and alternative inlet cannot be used simultaneously.

Hose clips prevent leaks

Hose clips are essential to prevent leaks caused by water pressure and ensure a watertight seal. They are supplied with EasyPond Plus kits.

Performance Tips

It is good practice to raise the pump 1-2 inches from the pond bottom to improve efficiency by preventing blockages and maximizing water flow.

For maximum flow performance, it is recommended to remove the lowest unused section of all pump and filter hosetails if possible.

PondXpert EasyFilter Set Up

Pressurised filters are easy to set up. Connect the filter to your electricity supply and attach the hosetails.

The filter is a pressurised box unit that can be placed away from the pond. The outlet can direct water to a feature, waterfall, or back into the pond. EasyFilters provide UV, media, and biological filtration, separating debris for cleaner water.

Important Note: Pumps and filters are not supplied with plugs due to UK building regulations. Consult a qualified electrician for electrical installation.

EasyFilter Set Up

1. Connect the hose from the pump outlet to the filter inlet hosetail.
2. Attach a hose to the waste filter outlet, directing it to a flower bed or drain for dirty water removal during backflushing.
3. Connect the cleaned water outlet hosetail to a hose leading back to the pond or a waterfall.

Performance Tips

It is often best to use the same size outlet as the inlet (e.g., 25mm inlet, 25mm outlet).

For maximum flow performance, remove the lowest unused section of all pump and filter hosetails if possible.

Tipping box filters forward slightly by raising the inlet side can improve filtration.
