Instructions for programming radio type and steering wheel controls.

Setting Radio Type and Steering Wheel Controls

Radio type can be set using the Axxess Updater, available from www.axxessupdater.com. If you do not have a PC or mobile device, you may use the manual steps below.

Manual Programming Steps

  1. Program the interface to the vehicle.
  2. Turn the ignition on. Push and hold the Volume Down button on the steering wheel until a solid red light appears on the interface.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up button until a solid red light appears, then release. Repeat this process 22 times.
  4. Push and hold the Volume Down button until a solid red light appears, then release.
  5. Navigate to the radio's General Settings menu. Find the Steering Wheel Control menu, change the setting from "Preset" to "Custom", and tap the wrench icon ⚙️.
  6. Push and hold the desired function on the screen for two seconds, then release. The box should remain illuminated in white. At this time, push and hold the corresponding button on the steering wheel. An orange border around the button indicates successful programming. (Refer to Figure A description: A visual representation of a successfully programmed steering wheel control button with an orange border.)

You will need to repeat this process for each function.

Troubleshooting and Changing Radio Types

Note: If a function does not program successfully, you may need to change the radio type on the interface to one of the alternative options. (Refer to Figure B description: A list of alternative radio types presented for selection when programming is unsuccessful.)

Procedure to Change Radio Type

To select an alternative radio type, repeat Steps 2 through 4. In Step 3, replace the number '22' with the specific 'Radio #' listed next to the desired radio type.
