Carefully remove the chain saw and all components from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. If any damage is found, do not operate the unit and contact your dealer.

  3. Place the chain around the clutch drum and guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges face forward on the top of the bar.

  5. Replace the chain cover and hand-tighten the nuts.
  6. Adjust chain tension using the side access chain tensioner until the chain is snug but can still be pulled freely by hand.
  7. Fully tighten the chain cover nuts.

2.3 Fuel and Chain Oil

This chain saw requires a specific fuel mixture and chain lubricant.

  • Motsoako oa Mafura: Use a 50:1 ratio of high-quality 2-stroke engine oil to unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 octane). Mix thoroughly in a separate, approved fuel container.
  • Oli ea Chain: Use a high-quality bar and chain oil. Do not use waste oil or motor oil, as this can damage the chain and bar.

Fill the fuel tank and chain oil reservoir, ensuring not to overfill. Wipe up any spills immediately.

3.1 Starting the Engine (Cold Start)

  1. Place the chain saw on a firm, flat surface. Ensure the chain brake is engaged.
  2. Press the purge bulb several times until fuel is visible in the return line.

  4. Pull the starter handle firmly and quickly until the engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls). Do not pull the rope to its full extension.
  5. Once the engine fires, move the choke lever to the HALF CHOKE position.

  7. Once the engine is running, move the choke lever to the RUN position. Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments.
  8. Disengage the chain brake before beginning cutting operations.

3.2 Starting the Engine (Warm Start)

  3. Pull the starter handle firmly and quickly until the engine starts.

  • Bucking: Cut a fallen log into sections. Be aware of tension and compression in the wood to avoid pinching the bar.
