1. Kutanga Setup

  1. Connect the first adapter: Plug one Devolo dLAN adapter (the one without WiFi, or the base unit) directly into a wall outlet near your internet router.
  2. Connect to router: Use the provided Ethernet cable to connect this adapter to an available LAN port on your internet router.
  3. Connect the second adapter: Plug the Devolo dLAN 550 WiFi adapter into a wall outlet in the room where you need WiFi or a wired connection.
  4. Wait for connection: The adapters will automatically establish a connection. The Powerline LED on both adapters should light up continuously.

2. Pairing Additional Adapters (if applicable)

If you are adding new dLAN adapters to an existing Devolo dLAN network, or if the adapters do not connect automatically:

  1. Plug the new dLAN adapter into a wall outlet.
  2. Within 2 minutes, press the encryption button (usually a house icon or a button labeled "dLAN" or "Pair") on one of your existing dLAN adapters for 1 second.
  3. Then, within 2 minutes, press the encryption button on the new dLAN adapter for 1 second.
  4. The adapters will pair and establish a secure connection. The Powerline LED should light up continuously.

3. WiFi Configuration

The dLAN 550 WiFi adapter creates a new WiFi network. You can find the default WiFi network name (SSID) and password on the back of the adapter or on the included information card.

Network Configuration

For advanced settings, such as changing the WiFi name (SSID), password, or managing your dLAN network, you can use the Devolo Cockpit software. This software is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and also as a mobile app for Android and iOS.

  • Download Devolo Cockpit: Visit the official Devolo website to download the latest version of the software for your operating system.
  • Accessing the interface: Once installed, the software will detect your Devolo adapters and allow you to configure them.

Maintenance

  • Kuchenesa: Disconnect the adapter from the power outlet before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Firmware Dzokorora: Devolo regularly releases firmware updates to improve performance and security. Use the Devolo Cockpit software to check for and install available updates. Keeping your firmware updated ensures optimal performance and compatibility.

  • Slow Connection Speed:
    • Avoid plugging adapters into outlets on different electrical phases if possible.
    • Remove any electrical devices that might cause interference (e.g., dimmers, motors) from nearby outlets.
    • Ensure the electrical wiring in your home is in good condition.
    • Update the adapter firmware using Devolo Cockpit.
  • No WiFi Signal (WiFi LED off):
    • Press the WiFi button on the adapter to ensure WiFi is enabled.
    • Check WiFi settings via Devolo Cockpit.

Resetting the Adapter

If you encounter persistent issues, you can reset the adapter to its factory default settings.

  1. With the adapter plugged into a wall outlet, locate the reset button (often a small pinhole or combined with the pairing button).
  2. Press and hold the reset button for approximately 10-15 seconds until the LEDs flash or change color.
  3. Release the button. The adapter will restart with factory settings. You will need to reconfigure it.
