Instruction Manual
Introduction
The AVITA NT17B Touch Free Infrared Thermometer is designed for home use and the intermittent measurement of human body forehead temperature in people of all ages.
Features:
- Multi functions: Human Body/Object/Night Mode Option/Fever Alarm/Backlight
- Night Mode Option: Mutes the sound to reduce buzzer interference during sleep.
- LED Light for Fever Alarm: Alerts users with a light and beep when readings exceed 38°C in Human Body Mode.

Contraindications:
- Scarred or compromised tissues on the measurement site.
- Patient's skin with certain medication on the measurement site.
Important Information before Use
Follow these notes to prevent injury or inaccurate readings:
- Do not disassemble, repair, or remodel the thermometer.
- Clean the thermometer lens after each use.
- Avoid direct finger contact with the lens.
- No modification of this equipment is allowed.
- For best accuracy, take 3 temperatures and use the highest reading if they differ.
- Avoid exposing the thermometer to extreme temperatures, high humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Avoid extreme shock or dropping the device.
- Ensure the patient and thermometer are in a steady room condition for at least 30 minutes before measurement.
- Avoid measuring temperature within 30 minutes after exercise, bathing, or returning from outdoors.
- Dispose of empty batteries at appropriate collection sites according to national or local regulations.
- Use the thermometer solely for its intended purpose.
- Keep reliable records of personal temperature to serve as a reference for judging a fever, as there are no absolute body temperature standards.
- Temperature results are for reference only. Consult a physician before taking any medical action.
- The thermometer is calibrated at the time of manufacture. Contact an authorized distributor for calibration services if accuracy is questioned.
- Keep the device away from pets, pests, and children. Small parts may be inhaled or swallowed.
- Report any serious incidents to the manufacturer and competent authority.
- Contact the manufacturer for assistance with setup, usage, or maintenance.
- Avoid using the device near operating cell phones or microwave ovens.

Description of LCD Display
The LCD display shows various symbols:
- Measuring sequence in process
- ? Night Mode (Mute Mode)
- ? Human Mode
- ? Object Mode
- 288.8 Degree of measurement
- °C Celsius Scale
- °F Fahrenheit Scale
- [low-battery] Low battery indicator
- ? Frowning Face (temperature is equal or higher than 38°C)
- ? Smiling Face (temperature is lower than 38°C)
- [memory] Memory Symbol and sets of records
Battery Installation
Low battery warning:
A low battery symbol [low-battery] will appear on the display. The thermometer can still be used, but batteries should be replaced. If batteries run out completely, "Lo" will be displayed with the low battery symbol. Replace batteries before further use.
CAUTION:
- Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
- Do not use rechargeable, unqualified, or different spec batteries as it may damage the device.
Replacing the Battery:
- Gently slide the battery cover back.
- Carefully remove old batteries and discard properly.
- Insert two new 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries (LR03) according to the proper polarity.
- Slide the battery cover back on.
NOTE: Battery-operated
- Dispose of batteries properly, away from small children and heat.
- Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period.
- Dispose of batteries in accordance with local environmental and institutional policies and applicable legal regulations. Do not dispose of batteries in normal household waste.
Switching Between Fahrenheit or Celsius
The thermometer can display results in either Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F). Use the Memory and Mode buttons to change the mode.
Switching between 4 Kinds of Measuring Mode
- With the power on, press the Mode Button to switch between Human, Object, Human/Night, and Object/Night modes.
- The beep sounds are muted in Human/Night Mode and Object/Night Mode, indicated by the ? symbol on the LCD.
NOTE: Each press of the mode button will produce a beep sound to confirm activation, except for Night Modes.
Tips for Measuring Human Temperature
- The thermometer should be in the room where measurement is taken for at least 30 minutes before use.
- Attempting to take readings from sites other than the forehead may produce inaccurate results.
- The patient should remain still during measurement.
- Readings taken while asleep should not be directly compared to readings taken while awake, as body temperature is typically lower during sleep.
- Do not take body temperature readings within 30 minutes of being outdoors, exercising, or bathing.
Measuring Human Temperature
Taking a Measurement:
- Press the Power Button. The unit will self-test, displaying all symbols. When ready, "--" will appear on the screen.
- Select the desired mode by pressing the Human/Object Button. The ? symbol indicates Human Mode.
- If the patient's skin is covered with hair, sweat, or dirt, clean the area and wait 10 minutes before measuring.
- Ensure the thermometer is held firmly and the patient remains still during measurement.
- Position the thermometer within 3cm (approx. 1 inch) from the center of the forehead, with the sensor aimed between the eyebrows.
- Press and release the Measure Button. A short beep and backlight indicate completion.
- A "Smiling Face" ? appears for readings below 38°C. A "Frowning Face" ? and LED light alert for readings of 38°C or above.
- The thermometer will automatically beep and shut off after about 30 seconds of inactivity.
Fever Alarm:
Active only in Human Mode and Human/Night Mode.
Measuring Object/Liquid Temperature
- Press the "Measure Button" to turn on the thermometer. All symbols will appear momentarily.
- Ensure the thermometer is in Object Mode, indicated by the ? symbol. Alternate modes by pressing the Human/Object Mode Button.
- Position the thermometer within 3cm (approx. 1 inch) from the object.
- Release the "Measure Button". The temperature reading will be displayed.
- After use, the thermometer will automatically beep and shut off after idling.
Memory Function
Memory Recall:
- When the device is on, briefly press the Memory Button to show the last measurement with the [memory] symbol.
- The ? symbol or ? symbol will appear with each stored measurement, indicating if it was a person or object temperature.
- Each press of the Memory Button recalls a previous measurement.
Memory Deletion:
- With the power on, press and hold the "Memory button" to delete all readings. The LCD will show "--" with a beep.
- Removing batteries will also clear the memory.
NOTE: All readings are cleared regardless of the mode (Human or Object).
Cleaning and Disinfecting
For home use, 75% alcohol (available at pharmacies) can be used for disinfection.
- Measurement Sensor: Clean the sensor with an alcohol swab before and after each measurement.
- Thermometer: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the thermometer body. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners, or benzene. Avoid scratching the probe lens or display. Do not expose the thermometer to extreme temperatures, humidity, direct sunlight, or shock.
Error Codes
Error messages indicate malfunctions or incorrect measurements:

Operating the Bluetooth function
This product features Bluetooth connectivity for data transmission. Measurement data is encrypted and transmitted securely. The firmware and software are programmed securely.
Bluetooth function requirement:
- Android device with Android version 4.3 or above and Bluetooth 4.2 support.
- iOS device with iOS version 5 or above and Bluetooth 4.2 support.
How to activate the Bluetooth function:
Refer to your mobile phone or computer's instruction manual for Bluetooth activation.
Set Up Process:
- Ensure your mobile phone or computer has BLE 4.2.
- Turn on the NT17B device. The Bluetooth icon indicates it is broadcasting.
- Check the connection status on your mobile phone or computer. The device name should be "NT17B".
- Measurement readings will transfer automatically to your mobile phone or computer.
