This record player is a consumer electronics device. This product is designed to play vinyl and shellac records and, together with a USB stick (not included), can also digitalise and make recordings of records. The product is only intended for private, not commercial use. Any other use is considered improper.   • Danger of suffocation! Never leave children unsupervised with the packaging material. The  packaging material poses a suffocation hazard. Children frequently underestimate the dangers. The packaging material is not a toy.
    This product may be used by children aged 8 and over as well as persons with physical, sensory or mental impairments or lacking experience and knowledge if supervised or instructed in the safe use of the product and if they understand the associated risks. Do not allow children to play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

  • Do not touch the mains adapter 26 with wet hands.
  • Never cover the mains adapter. Never pull on the mains cable to unplug the mains adapter from the socket. Always take hold of the mains adapter to do so. Only ever allow qualified personnel to carry out any repairs.
  • Never open the housing of the product. It has no internal parts requiring maintenance.
    Only use the product in indoor locations.

  • RISK OF PROPERTY DAMAGE
  • This product contains no parts which can be serviced by the user. Never open the housing of the product or the mains adapter.
  • Never insert objects into the inside of the product or the mains adapter.
  • Inspect the product before every use!
  • If you notice that the product or the mains adapter connection cable is damaged in any way, stop using the product!
  • Do not carry out any modifications to the device or the mains adapter.
  • If you notice anything unusual during use (e.g. unusual noises, strange odour or smoke), switch off the product immediately. Un-plug the mains adapter from the power supply and disconnect all cables. Do not use the product any more.
  • Sudden temperature changes may cause condensation inside the product. In such cases, allow the product to become acclimatised for a few hours before using it again! Do not place burning candles or naked flames on or near the product.
  • Do not use the product near heat sources or other appliances emit-ting heat!
  • Do not expose the record player or the mains adapter to high temperatures.
  • Protect the product from drip water and splash water. Only use the product in a dry environment.
  • Do not place any vases or similar containers on or near the product. The container could tip over and the escaping liquid could cause a short- circuit. If liquids get into the product or the mains adapter, disconnect the product from the mains power supply immediately.
  • The product must only be used once again after it has been checked by a specialist. Always hold the mains adapter  by the housing; do not tug at the cable to unplug it from the socket.

Initial use

Choose place of installation
When choosing where to set up your record player, take the following conditions into account to ensure that the product works safely and correctly:

  • Place the product on a firm, flat and horizontal base.
  • Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or very moist environment (e.g. bathroom) or near flammable materials. Protect the product from direct sunlight and impacts.
  • Do not remove the feet from the product. Other-wise air circulation cannot be guaranteed. Ensure that the plug socket remains accessible at all times so that the mains adapter 26 can be unplugged quickly if required.
  • The surfaces of furniture may contain components that can corrode and soften the product’s feet. If necessary, place a mat under the product’s feet.

Select the mode
Briefly press the MODE button to select play-back mode.

  • the function LED 11 flashes in blue when BLUETOOTH® is coupling.
  • the function LED 11 lights up in blue when BLUETOOTH® is connected.
  • the function LED 11 lights up in red if record  player mode/Aux-in mode is activated.
  • the function LED 11 lights up in green when  USB mode is activated.

Using the record player

Make sure that all transport, packaging and safety materials have been removed from the product be-fore using it for the first time.

  • Insert the connector for the mains adapter 26 into the DC input jack 27 at the back of the housing, then insert the mains adapter 26 into the mains socket.
  • Remove the protective cover 24 from the stylus 25 and keep it in a safe place for later use. Se t the speed switch 9 to 33, 45 or 78 rpm (revolutions per minute). Select the speed that applies to the record that is to be played. The speed is usually printed on the cover or on the label of the record. Long-play (LP) records are generally played at 33 1/3 rpm, so 33 should be chosen. Singles and maxi singles are usually played at 45 rpm. Older records / shellac re-cords are usually played at 78 rpm.
  • Turn the ON/OFF switch 21 clockwise and switch on the record player. The red LED status indicator 19 switches on. Adjust the volume by  further turning the volume control 21 .
  • Place a record on the turntable spindle 5 . The record adapter 6 is required for singles. First insert it onto the turntable spindle 5 , then place the single on the turntable 4 .
  • Raise the tonearm 7 by pulling up the tonearm lever 8 , then move the tonearm 7 via the pickup handle 23 so that the stylus 25 is placed on the outermost edge of the record or is at the start of the track that is to be played.
  • Slowly lower the tonearm 7 . The record starts playing when the stylus 25 comes into contact with the record.
  • Adjust the volume if necessary by turning the volume control 21 again.
  • The turntable 4 on the record player stops when the end of the record is reached.
  • Use the tonearm lever 8 again to raise the tonearm 7 (the turntable 4 starts to spin once again). Move the tonearm lever 8 back to/into the tonearm lock 20, then lower the tonearm 7 once again using the tonearm lever 8 . Use the clip on the tonearm lock 20 to lock the tonearm 7 into place.
  • Secure the stylus 25 by putting the protective cover 24 back into position.
  • Switch off the record player at any time by raising the tonearm 7 with the pickup handle 23 , then turning the ON/OFF switch 21 to the OFF position by moving it anti-clockwise (click).

Connecting headphones
The record player has a stereo headphone connection so that you can use it without disturbing others. The speakers do not work if headphones are connected.

  • Insert the jack (3.5 mm jack plug) on the head-phones (not included) into the headphone jack 22.
  • T urn the volume control 21 to monitor the volume.

Connecting the product to an external amplifier

  • This product can be connected to analogue audio devices and be amplified.
  • Connect the additional device (not included) to the AUX IN jack 30 with a 3.5mm jack cable (not included).
  • Press the PLAY button on the additional device and go through the tracks on the additional device in the usual manner.
  • Adjust the volume by turning the volume control 21 or the controls on the additional device that is connected.
  • Switch the record player off by putting the ON/OFF switch 21 into the OFF position (click).

Connecting the product to an external speaker
When connecting the record player to external speakers (via a suitable amplifier), use a twin phono to twin phono cable (not included). Connect the red and white connectors with the L white 28 and R red 29 line out jacks on the record player and with the audio input on the amplifier. Always make sure that the red connectors are inserted into the red jacks and white connectors are inserted into the white jacks.

Connecting the product to a BLUETOOTH® device
This product can be connected to external devices (e.g. smartphones) via BLUETOOTH®.
Note: This product has a BLUETOOTH® reception function, however it is not possible to send a BLUETOOTH® sound with it: This means that you can receive a BLUETOOTH®-audio signal wirelessly from an external source such as a smartphone.

Check if your record player is in BLUETOOTH® mode. If the record player is not yet in BLUETOOTH® mode then briefly press the MODE button 16 until BLUETOOTH® mode is activated (the function LED 11 turns blue). The record player starts to search for BLUETOOTH® devices (the function LED 11 flashes in blue during coupling).

In BLUETOOTH® mode:
Your device is looking for BLUETOOTH®.

  • Switch on the BLUETOOTH® connection on the device (e.g. iPhone/iPad/Android/another telephone/tablet/computer) and make sure that the device is “recognisable”.

Note: If necessary, check the manual for your de-vice to see how to add or set up BLUETOOTH®. Select “Add new device” if required.

Note: Some products automatically search for a new device if the “Add new device” option is not available.

When your device is found, it is displayed as “SPBT 5 A1”. Select it and start coupling. “BLUETOOTH® Connected“ appears when coupling is complete.

After your device is coupled with the record player, they connect with each other when within range  (approx. 10 metres or less). Your device remains coupled with the record player until you decide to terminate the connection or to “uncouple”. You can also press the PAIR button 17 to restore the connection.

Playing when in BLUETOOTH® mode/ using an external device: 

  • Press the PREV button 13 to play the previous track on your BLUETOOTH® device.
  • Press the NEXT button 14 to play the next track on your BLUETOOTH® device.
  • Press the PLAY / PAUSE button 15 to play back on your BLUETOOTH® device.

Use with USB playback:

  • Connect a USB stick (not included in delivery)) to the USB port.
  • Insert the USB connector into the corresponding USB port 10 .
  • Audio content on the USB stick will be played automatically.

Digitalise/make recordings of records
You can make recordings from a record, BLUETOOTH® and AUX IN on a USB stick (not included).

  • Connect the USB stick to the USB connection. Insert the USB connector into the corresponding USB port 10 .
  • Press the MODE button 16 to select the desired mode (BLUETOOTH®, record player or AUX) from which a recording should be made on the USB stick.
  • Press the REC button 12 (“Record”) and the function-LED 11 flashes. Recording starts.
  • Press the REC button 12 again to stop recording.

Replacing the stylus

Note: We recommend replacing the stylus 25 after approximately 250 hours of playback. Removing the stylus:

  • Place a flat-head screwdriver on the tip of the stylus 25 . Carefully press the stylus 25 down-wards in the direction of the tonearm 7 .
  • Now remove the stylus 25 by pulling it forward  whilst also pressing down on it.

Inserting the stylus
Hold the new stylus 25 (also see “Technical data”, not included) tightly at the tip, then insert it (into the pickup) by pushing it upwards. Pr ess the stylus 25 upwards for as long as required until it locks correctly into position.

Cleaning

  • Switch off the product and remove all cables before cleaning it.
  • Only clean the outside of the product with a clean and dry cloth and do not use corrosive liquids or abrasive cleaning agents. Use a slightly damp cloth and a mild detergent to remove stubborn dirt.

Storage when not in use

  • Store the product in a dry place when you are not using it.
  • Protect it from dust and direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting

  • To avoid invalidating the warranty, you should never attempt to repair the system yourself. If problems occur when using the device problems occur when using the appliance, check the following points before calling customer service.

No power:

  • Check that the power supply unit of the appliance is connected correctly.
  • Check whether the mains socket is supplied with power.
  • Turn the control 21 ‘ON/OFF’ to switch on the appliance.

No sound:
Pull the mains plug of the appliance out from the mains socket and then plug it in again. Switch the device on. Playback via Bluetooth® does not work: Check on your smartphone/tablet PC whether a Bluetooth there is a Bluetooth® connection with the record player (SPBT 5 A1). If necessary re-establish the connection.

Tips

  • Always open and close the cover on the case for the record player carefully. Remove records before closing the cover or transporting/moving the record player.
  • Before transporting it, make sure that the cover is correctly closed and the record player case is locked via the clasp 1 on the case lid. Always use the carrying handle 2 to carry the record player.
  • Do not use your fingers to touch the tip of the stylus 25 . Avoid placing the stylus on the turn-table when there is no record on it, or on the edge of the record.
  • Regularly clean the tip of the stylus with a soft brush, simply moving it from back to front.
  • If a cleaning solution is required for the stylus, then only use it in extremely small quantities. Carefully wipe down the record player housing with a soft cloth. Only use a minimal quantity of a mild detergent when cleaning the record player.
    Under no circumstances should harsh chemicals or solvents used for any parts of the record player.

Disposal

The packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials, which you may dispose of at local recycling facilities.

Warranty

The product has been manufactured to strict quality guidelines and meticulously examined before delivery. In the event of material or manufacturing defects you have legal rights against the retailer of this product. Your legal rights are not limited in any way by our warranty detailed below. The warranty for this product is 3 years from the date of purchase. The warranty period begins on the date of purchase. Keep the original sales receipt in a safe location as this document is required as proof of purchase.

Any damage or defects already present at the time of purchase must be reported without delay after unpacking the product. Should the product show any fault in materials or manufacture within 3 years from the date of purchase, we will repair or replace it – at our choice – free of charge to you. The warranty period is not extended as a result of a claim being granted. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts.

This warranty becomes void if the product has been damaged, or used or maintained improperly.
The warranty covers material or manufacturing defects. This warranty does not cover product parts subject to normal wear and tear, thus considered consumables (e.g. batteries, rechargeable batteries, tubes, cartridges), nor damage to fragile parts, e.g. switches or glass parts.
