Check a documented system

What’s on the rating plate?

Admiral major appliances, with manufacturer and product family checked.

Spaces and dashes are accepted. Check O/0 and I/1, and keep any leading zeros.

Checks ENERGY STAR model records and searches manuals separately from the serial. Certification records do not establish this unit’s manufacture date.

Known product context (optional)

Choose a system only when it matches the product family and its documentation. A purchase year or a manual’s publication date does not establish a manufacturing date.

  • Earlier Admiral/Magic Chef/Norge dryers have two-letter leading serials that do not fit these decoders.
  • Old independent Admiral electronics, televisions and other licensees are excluded.

Whirlpool-built Maytag/Amana/JennAir appliances: 2006+ year/week system

Matching North American Whirlpool-built household appliances. Source/manufacturer confirmation is required for private labels and product-specific exceptions.

Week 01–53; no conversion to an exact manufacture day. Numeric year codes have historic 1970s/1980s alternatives for pre-acquisition Whirlpool systems. 2023–2026 letters are verified by AppliancePartsPros’ named technician; 2019–2022 directly corroborated by manufacturer manual. Source-prefix interpretation is not a model decoder. Water heaters, HVAC and commercial MXR washers excluded.

Whirlpool-built Maytag/Amana/JennAir appliances: 2006+ year/week system (confirmed two-letter prefix)

Matching North American Whirlpool-built household appliances. Source/manufacturer confirmation is required for private labels and product-specific exceptions.

Confirm that the label/service manual uses a two-letter manufacturing/source prefix; length alone cannot establish this.

Confirmed Maytag-built legacy appliance only: trailing year/month

Matching legacy Maytag household appliances and documented Maytag-built variants.

Two trailing letters encode year then month. The 24-year cycle requires model/era context; legacy serials continued after Whirlpool acquired Maytag. Do not truncate at 2006 or apply to earlier independent brands just because ownership later changed. This brand needs explicit numbering-family selection because independent historical numbering and later licensees differ.

Confirm Maytag-built appliance using model-specific documentation. Brand ownership alone does not establish the date system.

Admiral lookup questions

Why does the year code match more than one year?

Some systems reuse letters or only encode the last one or two year digits. Every supported interpretation is retained. A decade supplied from reliable records can narrow the reading; the tool does not automatically pick the newest year.

Does the serial identify my exact model?

Usually the model is a separate plate field. Where published serial ranges actually identify a model, the result shows model candidates and links to their manuals. Overlapping ranges remain ambiguous.

Can I share the result?

After a lookup, the address includes the serial in a fragment beginning with #serial=. Use “Copy share link” to share the serial and selected context. Opening the link runs the same lookup. The fragment is not a query-string result page.
