App Download and Setup
Download the "Tuya smart" or "Smart life" app. A QR code is provided for downloading the Smart life app. The soil sensor uses the Zigbee protocol and requires a Tuya Zigbee gateway to connect to the mobile phone APP.
Instructions for Adding Devices to the App:
- Step 1: Press the button on the soil sensor to switch it to pairing mode.
Visual: The soil sensor is shown with a button.
- Step 2: Open the Tuya app, navigate to the gateway interface, and add the sub-device.
Visual: The Tuya app interface for adding devices is displayed.
- Step 3: Ensure the sensor is in pairing mode (LED is blinking).
Visual: The soil sensor is shown with a blinking LED indicator.
- Step 4: Enter the pairing mode interface; the gateway will search for the device.
Visual: The Tuya app is shown searching for devices.
- Step 5: Add the sensor to the gateway and complete the connection.
Visual: A confirmation screen shows the device has been successfully added.
- Step 6: View the soil sensor data in the app.
Visual: The mobile application interface displays current readings for soil humidity at 38% and temperature at 29°C.
Product Notes and Test Considerations
Product Notes:
- Install the sensor by inserting the probe vertically into the soil.
- Ensure the probe is in full contact with the soil and compacted to guarantee data accuracy.
- The soil sensor is designed for soil and mud only; it is not applicable to flour, prickly pear, organic crumbs, liquid particles, etc.
- When installing, try to insert the probe into the soil as a whole unit.
- The depth and tightness of the probe's contact with the soil directly affect data values and can lead to errors. For improved accuracy, use multi-point testing and calculate the average value.
- When measuring, avoid touching stones and do not use excessive force to push the probe, as this can easily damage it.
- After measurement, clean the probe promptly with paper or a cloth.
- When the sensor is not in use and stored, do not rub or scratch the probe directly with your hands. Keep it clean, dry, and away from magnetic objects and other metal items.
- Please follow proper waste battery recycling procedures to avoid environmental pollution.
Test Considerations:
- Optimal Moisture Levels: Dry, sandy, or overly fertile soil may affect accuracy. If the soil is dry, splash some water around the sensor and wait for 30 minutes before testing. Moisture levels between 40%-70% are considered optimal.
- Data Variability: Differences in soil depth, density, and humidity at various points can influence data accuracy. Perform multiple measurements at different locations and depths, ensuring consistent contact and compaction around the probe, then take the average value. Thoroughly clean the probe with paper or an abrasive cloth before each remeasurement.
