II. OVERVIEW
The Power over Ethernet (PoE) Motor is a low-voltage powered distribution and network-connectedmotor that utilizes PoE technology power and control from industry-common network switches.
This motor supports both Somfy Synergy API and CoAP Digital Building API protocols, and it is compatible with Power over EthernetNetwork Switches requiring the IEEE 802.3 power requirements below.
IEEE 802.3at Type 2 (30W): Sonesse 30® PoE 1.5 Nm(#1241147) Sonesse 40® PoE 2 Nm(#1241426)
IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 (60W): Sonesse 40® PoE 4 Nm(#1241427)
IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 (75W): Sonesse 40® PoE 6 Nm(#1241428)
PoEmotor systemquantity is based on managing the number of devices on the subnet(s) available unless specific network configurations are in place and managed by an IT Administrator.

III. SYSTEM PREPARATION
A fully operational PoEMotor system is required prior to RTI programming.
- Confirm with the Shade Commissioning Agent that the PoE Motor firmware is up to date
- Confirm with the Shade Commissioning Agent that all PoE Motors and Groups are configured
- An Integration Report is generated in the PoE Motor Config Tool which will include the PoE Motor IP address
- Obtain the PoE Motor PIN codes from the Motor Information Labels

U S I N G M O T O R L A B E L S
Each Somfy PoEmotor is supplied with four motor information labels that should be referenced to connect to motors. The label includes a four-digit PIN code for the motor and will be used to log in to themotor.
These codes will be used for the life of the product.
DO NOT DISCARD THE MOTOR INFORMATION LABELS!
One of the motor information labels should remain on the body of themotor. The other three labels should be shipped in the packaging of themotorized product, or see below for recommended locations to use the labels. Suggested locations for the Motor Information Labels:
- Finishedmotorized products:
Examples:
– Attached to themotor cable
– Removeable shade hembar
– Motor cover - Inside the valance of themotorized product
- Work order sheet used in project planning
- Product packaging used for shipping
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Gathering and organizing motor PINcodes and motor information fromthe included motor labels is very important in navigating through the PoEmotor graphical user interface.
V. SET UP
The Somfy POE Demo file is located in the Somfy POE Motor driver package available in the RTI Dealer Portal. The Demo file is an Integration Designer APEX template with a sample Virtual Panel.
The Somfy PoEMotor Demomay require generating a new Network and System Encryption Key before use.
Refer to Appendix A to generate a new Network or System Encryption Key.
DRIVER CONFIGURATION
Refer to the Integration Report for the PoEMotor IP address and device addresses. The driver supports up to 32motor and 32 group sources. Organize the motor PIN codes to enter them when needed.
- In the APEX Workspace tray, EXPAND “Drivers,” SELECT “Somfy POE Motor”
- In the Somfy POE Motor Driver Configuration, SELECT “Driver Properties”
- In the Network Connection, ENTER the IP Address of one designated POE Motor in the “IP Address” field
NOTE: Any of the available shade motors connected on the local network can be used. - CONFIRM the IP Port is set to “55056”
- ENTER the UDP Broadcast address used for device discovery in the “UDP Broadcast Address” field
- ENTER the Motor PIN Code of the PoE Motor in the “Motor PIN Code” field
NOTE: Device configuration will auto-populate the amount of motors or groups. - ENTER a friendly name of the motor in the “Motor 1 Name” field
- In the Motor Device 1 Settings, ENTER the last 6 digits of the motor MAC address in the “Motor 1 TargetID” field
- REPEAT the Motor Device Settings for each additional motor up to 32 PoE Motors, adding additional sources as needed
- In the Group Device 1 Settings, ENTER the case sensitive name of a group in the “Group 1 Name” field
NOTE: This parameter must match a known group name as configured in the Somfy PoE Motor configuration software. - REPEAT the Group Device Settings for additional groups needed up to 32 groups, adding additional sources as needed
User Interfaces will display the name of the motor specified in the Somfy PoEMotor configuration software.
It is not necessary to enter individual motor names.
Refer to the Somfy POEMotor Driver details in the Driver Info section.
SEND TO DEVICE
Send To Device is a process of uploading the system file from Integration Designer to the connected devices on the system. Run this process to provide the update status of each device. Performthis process after any programming modifications.
Refer to Appendix A for the steps to generate network and system keys.
- In the Integration Designer Menu Bar, SELECT “Communications”
- SELECT “Send To Device…” to display the devices in the current system
3) SELECT the RTI Processor and communications method in the Target column
4) SELECT “Send” in the Download column of the RTI Processor row
5) SELECT “Send” in the Download column of the Virtual Panel row
RUN VIRTUAL PANEL
Refer to Appendix B for a list of Somfy PoEmotor specific commands and actions.
Use the Virtual Panel to test motor or group operation and reference motor information.
- OPEN the Virtual Panel file saved from the previous steps of this guide
- FOLLOWthe prompts to continue allowing the virtual panel to run on the computer
- ENSURE the Communicating and Initialized indicators are GREEN
- Use the onscreen controls to TEST device operation:
• The OPEN / CLOSE slider moves the shade or group to a percent position closed
• TheWINK button moves the shade or group
• The STOP X button stops the shade or group when moving
• The MOVE Up-arrow button moves the shade or group to the fully open position
• The MOVE Down-arrow button moves the shade or group to the fully closed position
• The INTERMEDIATE POSITION numbers set moves the shade or group to the programmed intermediate position
APPENDIX
[ A P P E N D I X A ] G E N E R A T E N E TW O R K & S Y S T E M K E Y SThe Network Keymust be unique for every system and is not related to any WEP/WPA/Wi-Fi keys. Changing the system key will prevent all existing virtual panels from connecting and requires a fresh update for each device. Refer to Send to Device to update device connections.
NOTE:The network key should not be change directionless tech support.
- In the Integration Designer Menu Bar, SELECT “File”
- SELECT “System Properties”
- In the Zone tab, Network Key section, SELECT “Generate”
- In the RTiPanel / Virtual Panel tab, Options section, SELECT “Generate new system encryption key”
NOTE: If remote access is required, choose an option from the dropdown menu. - SELECT “Yes” to regenerate the system keys
- SELECT “OK”
