How do I add fabric softener to my Whirlpool top-loading washing machine?

To add fabric softener to your Whirlpool top-loading washing machine, you have two options.

Option 1: Using the Downy Ball® dispenser (recommended method):

1. Pour a measured amount of liquid fabric softener into the Downy Ball® dispenser.
2. Pull the ring tightly to seal it.
3. Place the Downy Ball® dispenser on top of your load.
4. Follow the manufacturer's directions for the correct amount of fabric softener based on your load size.
5. Use the Rinse Options button on the control panel to select Fabric Softener.
6. The Downy Ball® dispenser will automatically release the fabric softener at the correct time in the cycle.

Option 2: Adding fabric softener manually:

1. Select the Fabric Softener option on the control panel before starting a cycle.
2. During the final rinse, wait until the washer has completed filling.
3. Press the Start/Pause button to pause the washer.
4. Lift the lid and add the recommended amount of liquid fabric softener.
5. Close the lid.
6. Press and hold the Start/Pause button to resume the cycle.

Please note that if you choose to add fabric softener manually, you need to select the Fabric Softener option on the control panel before starting the cycle.
