To install the HALCYON R611 12w Retrospec Design Standard LED downlight properly, follow these steps:
1. Switch off the mains power supply before starting the installation process to ensure safety.
2. Connect the Dimmable Driver to the mains voltage cable (L, N). It is crucial not to connect the downlight to the driver if the driver is live, as inrush current from a live driver can cause instant downlight failure. Do not switch the secondary side.
3. Carefully install the downlight into a pre-cut 100-110mm hole in your ceiling.
4. Once the downlight is securely installed, turn on the mains power and switch on the lighting circuit to test the functionality of the downlight.
5. Ensure that there are approved clearances around the downlight for optimal product lifespan through effective heat dissipation. While 0mm clearance is approved, it is recommended to have a 25mm clearance for better heat dissipation.
6. The driver is designed to be covered and abutted with IC-F / IC-4 approved insulation, ensuring proper insulation around the downlight.
7. Avoid cutting holes before receiving the goods, as this is at the risk of the installer.
8. Do not install the downlight through or directly into a joist, beam, rafter, or ceiling batten. The rear of the fitting may abut structural members and building elements.
9. Maintain a clearance of 25mm to building elements for the optimum lifespan of the downlight.
10. Ensure that the insulation product used around the downlight maintains its dimensions and structural integrity when exposed to a temperature of 90°C and withstands a 30-second needle flame test.
