To test the Mircom MIX-2351TAPA sensor for proper functionality, follow these testing methods as outlined in the installation manual:
1. **Functional Test (Magnet Test):** Use a test magnet (P/N M02-04-01 or M02-09-00) to simulate smoke in the sensing chamber. Hold the test magnet in the designated test area to trigger the sensor to alarm.
2. **Smoke Entry Test:** Sensitivity readings can be accessed through the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). You can also use approved canned aerosol simulated smoke for smoke entry testing. Ensure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper use of the canned smoke agent.
3. **Direct Heat Method:** Use a hair dryer of 1000-1500 watts to test the thermistors. Direct the heat towards the thermistors while holding the heat source approximately 12 inches away from the detector. Test each thermistor individually.
4. **Multi-Criteria Method:** A Testifire® by SDi can be used to test both the smoke and heat sensors. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for complete testing guidelines.
After conducting the tests, if the sensor fails any of the testing methods, consider cleaning the sensor as described in the manual and then retest it. Once testing is complete and the sensor is functioning correctly, restore the system to normal operation and notify the relevant authorities that the system is back in operation.
