- Use the optional test magnet (Model No. M02-04) and place it against the cover in the magnet test area as indicated in the manual.
- The LEDs on the sensor should latch on within 10 seconds, indicating an alarm and annunciating at the control panel.
- Reset the detector at the system control panel after testing.
2. **Direct Heat Method (Hair Dryer):**
- Direct a heat source, such as a hair dryer of 1000 – 1500 watts, towards the sensor from the side.
- Hold the heat source approximately 6 inches (15 cm) away from the sensor to prevent damage to the cover during testing.
- The LEDs on the sensor should illuminate when the temperature at the sensor reaches the alarm setpoint. If the LEDs do not light up, check the power supply to the sensor and the wiring in the sensor base.
- Reset the detector at the system control panel after testing.
3. **Cleaning and Retesting:**
- If any detectors fail the testing, they may need cleaning. Follow the cleaning procedure outlined in the manual.
- After cleaning, reinstall the detector and test it again as described above.
- Reconnect any disabled circuits and notify the appropriate authorities that the system is back online.
