To install the Goodman BAYSPEK070 Single Point Entry Kit in your unit, follow these steps as outlined in the user manual:
1. **Check for Shipping Damage:** Before installation, inspect the kit for any shipping damage. If damage is found, report it to the carrier immediately.
2. **Verify Power Supply Compatibility:** Ensure that the power supply available complies with the specifications indicated on the single power entry kit nameplate, heater, and unit model being used.
3. **Field Electrical Connections:** All field electrical connections and wiring must be done in accordance with the National Electrical Code and local electrical codes.
4. **Mounting the SPEK:**
- Remove the Control/Heat panel.
- Mount the SPEK below the Heater Controls using the provided screws.
- Pass the unit power wires provided with the SPEK through the Control box base and route them up to the unit contactor.
5. **Electrical Connections:**
- Make all electrical connections to the unit and heater following the appropriate wiring diagram provided with the SPEK.
- Place the included SPEK wiring diagram on the inner surface of the Control/Heater access panel next to the unit wiring diagram.
6. **Nameplate Labels:**
- Attach the two nameplate labels included with the single power entry kit to the air conditioning unit or heat pump unit as illustrated in the manual.
- The smaller label should cover the unit's MCA and Fusing information.
7. **High Voltage Field Wiring:**
- Ensure all field wires are rated 75°C minimum.
- Connect the power supply to the terminal block on the SPEK and ground wire to the ground lug.
- Reinstall the Control/Heat access panels and apply power to the unit.
8. **Low Voltage Wiring (24 Volts):**
- All low voltage connections are made to the heater via polarized plugs.
- Connect the low voltage controls to the room thermostat following the field wiring diagram.
