To ensure that your AprilAire ARNALM System Alarm is functioning properly, follow these steps:
1. **Power On:** Make sure the battery isolator has been removed from the positive pole end of the battery to activate the alarm. The system will run a 20-second initialization to measure baseline system operating pressure. The green sensing LED will flash during this time, and a single beep will indicate the initialization is complete.
2. **Calibration:** The ARNALM self-calibrates automatically upon installation of the battery. After the initialization, the alarm is now active and calibrated. No additional calibration is necessary.
3. **Audible Alarm Test:** You can test the audible alarm by pressing the "Test" button. This will sound an audible beep and illuminate all lights on the alarm, confirming that the audible alarm is functioning.
4. **Visual Indicators:** The alarm has different modes indicated by visual lights. The Sensing Mode blinks the sensing light every 60 seconds, the Pre-Alarm Mode blinks the alarm light every 60 seconds when low pressure is sensed, and the Alarm Mode activates the buzzer and red alarm light. The Service Mode and Low Battery Mode also have specific visual indicators.
5. **Hush Mode:** You can silence the audible alarm for 7 days by pressing the "Hush" button. After 7 days, the alarm will return to its programmed mode.
6. **Battery Status:** The alarm has a Low Battery Mode that includes a chirping sound and flashing light at 5-minute intervals when the battery voltage is low. If you notice this indication, it's time to replace the battery.
By following these steps and observing the visual and audible indicators as described in the manual, you can verify that your AprilAire ARNALM System Alarm is functioning properly and ready to alert you in case of any issues with your radon system.
