To switch between the different modes on the Miditech Midiface 4x4 Thru / Merge USB MIDI Interface, you can follow these steps as outlined in the user manual:
1. **USB Mode:** This mode does not need to be switched. The interface runs driverless on any computer, and the operating system installs 4 input and 4 MIDI output drivers when connected. The USB Power LED lights up in this mode.
2. **THRU Modes:**
- **THRU Mode 1:** Press the "Model SW" button once to switch to the first MIDI THRU mode. The lower 4 LEDs light up green, and inputs 1-4 are directly routed to the corresponding outputs (1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, 4 to 4).
- **THRU Mode 2 to 5:** Press the "Model SW" button successively to cycle through THRU modes 2 to 5. Each mode routes a specific input to all 4 MIDI outputs.
3. **MERGE Mode:**
- After cycling through the THRU modes, press the "Model SW" button again to switch to MERGE mode. In this mode, the first two lower LEDs light up green, and inputs 1 and 2 are merged and routed to all 4 MIDI outputs.
