GeekMagic® SmallTV-Ultra User Manual V9.0.18

1. Basic Information

Product Size: 35mm x 39mm x 45mm

Screen: 1.5 inch 240x240px TFT IPS display

Power supply: 5V DC with 1A and up. Voltage should not exceed 5V, which may cause damage.

2. How to set it up?

Upon startup, the device attempts to connect to the network using stored WiFi information. If the connection fails, it enters AP (Access Point) mode and activates its own hotspot named "GIFTV." If successful, it enters STA (Station) mode and disables its hotspot.

When first powered on, the device is in AP mode. Use your smartphone to connect to the WiFi network named "GIFTV." Some phones may display a "no internet" warning; please ignore this. Open a web browser and visit the console address http://192.168.4.1 to access the web-based control panel for configuration.

Tips: If you cannot access the IP address after following the steps, try disabling your mobile data first, as some smartphones may block WiFi if it detects no internet access.

First, click on "Network," then select "Scan" to search for nearby WiFi hotspots. Choose your WiFi network and enter the password to save it. The device will then restart to establish a WiFi connection.

If the connection is successful, the IP address will be displayed on the screen. You can note this address, but it is not necessary as it will be shown every time after a successful connection upon startup.

Next, use your smartphone or computer to connect to the same WiFi network (your own WiFi network). Once connected, open a web browser and enter the new IP address. This will take you back to the configuration page for additional personalized settings.

3. How to update weather info?

3.1 Method 1

Input the city name directly in English. For example, for Seoul, you can type "Seoul" or "Seoul, KR."

3.2 Method 2

If the city name is not unique, you may need to find the correct city code. Follow these steps:

  1. After setting up your device for internet connection, access the Weather page on the control panel.
  2. Open the URL: https://openweathermap.org/find
  3. Enter your city name (e.g., "Seoul") and click "Search."
  4. In the search results, click on your city's name. This opens a new webpage link.

Step 4: Locate your city code. It is a sequence of pure numbers found at the end of the URL address.

Step 5: On the Weather page, input your city code (e.g., "1835848") and click "Save." The weather information should update immediately.

7. Trouble shooting & FAQ:

1) The screen flickering? Or could not power on?

A: Try changing the USB cable or power adapter, as this may be related to an unstable power supply. Type-C to Type-C USB is not supported; it is recommended to use the provided cable instead.

2) Can't connect to my router?

A: Ensure it is a 2.4G hotspot and double-check the SSID and password. Compatibility issues may arise with WIFI6 routers, especially ASUS WIFI6 routers.

GeekMagic is confident that WiFi connection will be successful. For assistance, contact GeekMagic@163.com.

3) Where and how to update firmware?

A: Search "GeekMagic SmallTV-Ultra" on Google. The GitHub link will provide firmware updates. Ensure your model is "SmallTV-Ultra."

4) How to reset, reconfigure?

A: ezgif.com is highly recommended. Upload your GIF files, crop, and resize them to fit 80x80px or 240x240px for full-screen display.
